Typology thread locked, feel free to continue the discussion here

(flames = blacklist)

Since my old thread actually got locked ~12 hours after I tried to do it - for better and for worse - and won't unlock in another 12 hours (thank you, impulsedriven.net blog system, you are so wonderfully responsive), I'll reply to renz here. If someone feels like continuing the meaningful part of discussion here, they are welcome to do so: for instance, I think I_htya and Zen did not have their duel time/date set, for example.

That was an enjoyable read IN1, pretty accurate profiling too.

Off topic: If we are dropping names, I'd like to mention some excellent Erebii from what I've seen in the past:

-2nana (Korean player, showcased the power of minions/passive erebus dps by spanking my no-minion ass)

-Orcun_BL (Orcun used to play erb for the old premade [posidenii/ivorgor/orcun], probably one of the first Erebus in DG to apply full Mass Charm correctly)

-McShane87, Nomilarac, Pacov, nnnils (Respectable LE)

-Dark_Satana, py4eek, nazhda4ka/McLoover (Respectable russian LE)

:fuzzy:

Hell, I had no idea ivorgor is one of the... Elder Ones :X I always make fun of his UB for bying fs1 and cur1, when Sed and Reg are on the same team. He's a good player and a nice guy, though.

Also, I find it amusing that 'respectable LE' and 'respectable Russian LE' are two separate categories here :D Personally, I also feel Russian players are... well, a different species. Besides, it's only logical they have a racial bonus to vampirism second only to people of Balkan origin. My impressions: if 2nana=ppapanek, he's still great; Dark_Satana is very solid, but a bit of a smartass (unusual for a Russian guy); py4eek is bi-lateral both in his performance and behavior: sometimes very nice to play with, sometimes unbearably arrogant -- there are certain threads about him after the comeback; McLoover... well, I have a history with this guy, but doubting his skill would be stupid; nnnils is good, though I think I like his Oak more (probably a matter of personal taste).

And how do you apply full Mass Charm correctly?

All i saw that stood out from that thread was ihyta saying hes mastered beating amazing UBs that get narmoths.....  amazing UBs do not get narmoths before jtreads.  Its a money sink if you cant get the kills to get jtreads and I show this in all the 3 tourney Game's against IZ  where he's semi dominating mid game with narmoths,  then we pull it out in the end because I use my gold more wisely..

Ivorgor has changed his playstyle a bit, but I think he was always into buying cit upgrades.

Well typically you either use it to secure a kill, in coordination with your teammate's stuns (chain stun), help teammates catch up etc.

Also in a non laggy game, full Mass Charm can also be used to safely lock a flag or even teleport out.

I use max Mass Charm it as if it were Silence, but it's both a bit better and much worse. A bit better, since you can secure kills in a more reliable way (the opponents are immobilized), much worse, since it's not an instant and has 40% shorter duration, ultimately.

PS: Kira used it all the time today in a bad game we had vs ppap/Nastyblade/Al-t, and I think he was using it appropriately. Well, maybe a bit too much for my taste. As a predominantly Sedna player, I'm offended by skill spamming, and my Ereb is a true mana cheapskate :)

Have I become forgotten to the dg community :(? Which category do I fall under?

Mcshane -

Lol, here are the 3 times that happened, it was the spit vs ooze games:

Game 1-Me(Erebus)+Renz(UB) vs Rawrr(OAk)+You(UB)>>Was a decent game but shield was just too powerful, and you guys win.

Game 2-Me(UB) + Renz(Oak) vs Rawrr(OAk)+You(UB)>>My side dominates, like 9 kills to 1, quick victory.

Game 3-Me(Ub) + Renz (Oak) vs Rawrr (Oak) + You (UB) >>My side is dominating again only like 7 kills to 2 this time, but we started the game at 6 AM for Renz and late game he decides to let Rawrr take a portal while he grabbed your valor flag lol

So with the improbable comeback in game 3, you're actually still up in the official spit vs ooze series (which took place over 2 days).  This is something I was hoping to fix in the last tournament, but unfortunately Iz_ beat me to it

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There were other games when I think both of us had other teammates as well, I guess I was also refering to those 2v2's also. We played an aweful lot of 2v2 games with different teammates but never together over a few days/weeks. Those games were some of the most rewarding, difficult, enjoyable, non-laggy, competitve, and even match ups I have played in. I <3 shane.

One game doesn't define a match up in reference to the Iz tourney game. I always looked at Unclean Beast this way:

Best to worst beast builds in 1v1 unsupported senarios (no monks and leaving out the vial UB build):

1. Blood - hybrid

2. Blood - Ooze

3. BotS - Hybrid

4. everything else

When you add the dynamics of teammates these match ups are blurred into the unknown. I will never consider ooze the best beast build or hybrid the best beast build in multiplayer games, there are to many variables. 1v1 is a different circumstance.

ZEN, i was going to join, but we got a good balanced 4v4 going. You should've stayed it was good fun!

Try HW on cata 1v1. Sometimes it will work against anything. Depends on your play style as well.

Very much agree.  Sometimes it works well ub v ub, sometimes not.

That is pretty accurate, but I think a Dark Crimson Vial hybrid will win 1v1 against botf or bots hybrid - if he can avoid dying early.

I've noticed high towers help a HW build as well. Keeps the botf at bay long enough to out level them.

Yea, good times.  I think pacov and renz need to start doing some heavy scouting for potential tier 1s since they still play the most.  If there were a few more people who could handle those highest level games, dg could still be fun.

Who the hell knows what goes on in 1 vs 1... not me.  But a good vial ub should be tough to beat in any scenario.

Finally got 2 games vs I_htya (lost both), was pleasantly surprised by his friendly and easy-going attitude. My verdict: his UB is really good, but I don't like his Rook quite as much. His biggest strength as a player is his nearly perfect map awareness, IMHO.

Hope we get some games on more-or-less even teams, it will be fun :) I know you didn't stack teams, there is no way to know a player with 1000 games and high win % is totally incompetent as a certain DG, and a player with 100 games and 40% wins is quite good.

Also, join the tourney, I_htya. You+Bobby Munch = very good team, methinks.

Well, I like Munch-heavy QoT builds, and you know that! :) Seriously, my logic is simple: he plays with I_htya regularly, so they must make a good team. Also, based on several games I've played with/vs Rob, he's not LOL at all as far as individual skill is concerned. His personal issues are another matter, of course, but I don't think we should discuss it here.

side note - bobby did join the jee lounge site yesterday.  I know i_htya said that bobby probably wouldn't participate in any tourney, but who knows... maybe he's coming around :)
