Threads taking LONG to materialize

WRONG: As the title says... i posted a thread, then edited the title since the title was worded inaccurately, and now I cannot see it in the subforum i posted it in. Nor under 'recent posts'. it's just gone!

EDIT: I was wrong, had nothing to do with threadtitle! It's just any new thread created takes up to 10 minutes to appear in the subforum you created it in. Lag?

Look under myposts. That may show you where it is.

Been using that, and it was not where it said it was... I guess it takes up till 10 minutes to materialize?

Because it also happened with THAT thread, so it's nothing to do with changing the threadtitle, it's just the forum takes LONG to create a thread? Posts appear instantly...

I've never seen that happen. You can actually move your threads if you have a blog setup but I see you don't so that can't be the case.

It can take a bit for changes to appear but I've never seen anything take 10 minutes and even then I've never seen any kind of delay except if you post something on one of Startdocks sites and then you go to another to view it which I dobut is the case here.

I mean strange things do occassionally happen but what you mention is nothing I've ever seen or heard of before.

About the only way a post or thread will disappear is if

a/ there is a site reset due to a Database issue that restores 'everything' to a time before the thread/post was first set,

or

b/ a site Admin removes the thread/post.  The most common reason for a removal is duplicates/redundancies aka 'double posting'...;)

The most common reason for a removal is duplicates/redundancies aka 'double posting'...

And you don't want to know the uncommon reasons.;)

Well....vastly MORE common is the spam... but that's never missed...as the spammer is removed along with the thread/post...;)

No it's some kind of lag. I post a thread and have to wait for like 10 minutes to be able to see my own thread appear. It did appear eventually. As did this one. It's really strange indeed, never ever seen it before on a forum.

Then it's most likely that this is specific to the Elemental site because I'm not seeing anything like it on GalCiv2 or Joe User for example.

It's also possible that it could be an issue with your browser. Try refreshing the screen (F5) and if you can try another browser that would be helpful as well. Also mention which browser(s) you're using.

I am using windows internet explorer. It's not about refreshing... I revisited, refreshed etc a lot, and it still took minutes.

That is really not all that uncommon. I remember reading somewhere that since all the Stardock sites are merged together, they have them spread out on a couple different servers to lighten the load. Those servers do not refresh at the same time, so any post can take a bit ot time to be seen in the recent activities list.

When in doubt about something getting posted.....wait a few (or 10) minutes, that avoids double posting. ;)

Yep....and with the recent release of Elemental I would expect the lag may be more noticeable...;)

Sure, I'm not talking about the recent acitivities list... I amtalking about the actual subforum (ie: support) you post it in. I have typed that earlier. But it's not a big point, I just don't like being misunderstood :P

I've had that for two years. Posts won't show for up to 10-15 minutes after posting. The recent posts list showing the last person to post being so and so, but when you enter the thread their post won't show for a while. This custom forum software has never worked as smoothly as most standard forums, but it has improved over time.
