For fans of the old Warlords game

http://www.warlordsplayonline.com

I have joined the beta of this game and its really fun. It plays more or less excactly like the original Warlords game, only in a web browser. Beta games are running and I am in my first game now.

BTW, I am in no way connected to the makers of this game :)

Thanks for pointing this out. I spend a while earlier this year trying to get warlords 2 to run on a modern computer... Didn't turn out so well :(

Definitely a great game, and I'll have to check this version out.

Good times, I remember playing that with my brother (hot seat).

I didn't find it very interesting.

Well, is it okay to start a project that is very similar to another game and uses similar names for creatures etc., and then sell it, relying on the previous game to sell?  All the other remakes for older games that I know of are completely free.

Best regards,
Steven.

@StevenAus - Didnt you just describe for example Elemental? Most games take heavy influence from other games. Nothing wrong with that. Especially if the original is old and no longer a living franchise. But they need to change the name ofcourse. For now its free and fun. I am in two games now :)

I think that there are enough differences between MOM and Elemental for Elemental not to be just a remake of MOM (I define "remake" as basically same game with new graphics).  However, the game web-site is called "warlordsplayonline.com".  I don't think Elemental ever included MOM's name or title in its web address... even at the start, AFAIK.

Best regards,
Steven.

I'll play the free web based game for now.  Should they change the name and start charging I'll move on.
Heck - if they keep the name and start charging I'll move on.

The game is fun but it's not all that great and I have Warlords on my pc now that I go back to every once in awhile for the fix.

"Old Warlords game"?   Like how old?   I remember Warlords for the Atari (which was not a strategy game), and I remember Warlords for the Apple II+, which was basically 4 players on a 9x9 grid, and you had a capital city in the middle.  All text.   This "Warlords I" didn't really come out till like 1994.
