TOA "Tournament" scenarios

What are they?

So, I finally went ahead and ordered the GalCiv Ultimate Edition online, meaning that I'll finally be able to play DA and TOA. I've read posts on most aspects of the expansions, but there was one thing I was curious about (having seen it mentioned in a post today) - the TOA "tournament" scenarios, e.g "Rock and a Hard Place", "Arcea's Last Stand", etc.

I like the sound of the scenarios, which seem much more interesting then most of the DL scenarios, but I don't really like the Metaverse. My question is, are they connected? That is, do I have to play the tournament scenarios as Metaverse games, or can I just play them as ordinary sandbox games? Also, do the scenarios come "with" the game, or do they have to be downloaded?

Thanks for any information you can provide.

qrtxian,

you made a good choice by upgrading to UE.

You can only access the Tournaments via TA - once you see the games main-screen there's a button "Tournaments", just below "Metaverse".

In order to play them you need to log into an existing MV account. From this point on, you can play them just like sandox - you don't have to upload any scores at all.

I found these tournaments quite better than any campaigns, theri setup is really interesting. In each one of them you need to focus on totally different matter/strats. Besides, in the "Altaria Resists" there's no range-limit; and in "Arcea's Last Stand" a peace-deal isn't possible.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the information.

As you can probably guess, I don't have a Metaverse account. Are there any guides on how to create one?
