WinCustomize Lagging ?

For the past few days I can not get to some areas of Wincustomize without it taking forever to load.

Some pages never load it just says waiting on www.wincustomize.com

Is anyone else having problems with wincustomize?

Yep...sometimes just getting the home page to load and get into the site takes forever as well........been that way for a while.....

been that way for a while.....

Yeah, about 8 years...

Do what I do, click the WC link then open other tabs and browse other sites while it loads. You can get through quite a few ;)

Ya, it consistently takes on average 5 to 7 seconds to load each page.  That is why I recommend having a good book next to the computer, something like "WAR and PEACE".  You know, about 1200 pages.

:annoyed:

Sad, but oh so true!

It sure ain't the mouse.

The lag is absurd. It always has been (for a goodly number of years).

I have this nagging feeling that the code underlying the whole thing is ridiculous and that it should be straightened out for once and for all.

This should and could have been done in the year plus plus since the original announcement, and it should have been tested and retested. It should not have been mounted until this was ironed out. Why a defective website was mounted at all is unclear, but it doesn't advertise WC well.

Not meant to place blame, nor be unappreciative of what Bara (and undoubtedly others) have tried and are trying to do. My hat's off to them.

This is just one customer's feeling.

I have also been getting weird stuff like this

Can't go forward or backward when it gets like that

Means you've reached the end of the internet: Turn around and go back.

Maybe you should try one of the alternate universes. I bet one of them has a real WORKING WinCustomize.....  ;) :cylon:

WinCustomize is Stardock's Red headed step child (no offense to red heads or step children) or three day old left over meat loaf.. I don't think they care to much about this place.. It wasn't like this six years ago.  ◄ -_-

yep...been happening for ages.....very often....the only way to get anywhere....is go back to the main page...from my shortcut..

certainly knocks the stuffing out of you wanting to explore the place....I just do the bare basics now....

Do what I do, click the WC link then open other tabs and browse other sites while it loads. You can get through quite a few

yep...that certainly helps save the sense of humour...

no...it wasn't....we have lost alot...going forward.... :-|

I think, right now...they could switch back to the old site....and probably...no one would ever complain again.... :\

a lot of features are really good ideas.....but at the expense of so many others just not there...or not working anymore.....I dunno...

ok....4 th attempt:

*please forgive my foul mood.

So is the WinCustomize website tied into all the other Stardock forums? I.E. I make a post here and it appears on all the others? I believe it is as I was told that not too long ago.

Honestly, the problem lies in all these sites being tied together...

Some-where along the lines is a "weak link" in the chain, I.E. a site with a bad or spotty connection. Not necessarily a Stardock server, but something connected to one of their ISP's along the "chain", some hardware another company own, something. It f'ks up...all the rest f'k up.

Almost a good idea....terrible execution. Sorry guys. Question is, why do it? I understand the "community" feeling. I also understand how handy it "could be" to make a post on one site and have it seen on a bunch of others too. That part is a good idea, but...lets examine another angle.

There's another post floating around where the poster asks "What is Karma for?". The short answer is this:

If someone has a lot of "Karma" it shows that people have liked them or their ideas enough to give them Karma. That or the people have been helpful or given helpful replies. In a sense, the higher your Karma the more generally trusted your answers are. Is this "cool" and "handy"? Sure. Is it worth the hassle of "Forums Go Boom" because something along the chain f'ks up? ....um....No. That's just my opinion though. I'd rather have fully working sites with no network errors making me lose my posts that I forgot to "copy" before I hit post. Sometimes when you hit "Visit The Past" what you typed is gone!!! So I beg the question....what's the point? Better to get rid of what-ever system is causing the screw-ups then it is to have sites messing up all the time.
