GalCiv II Ultimate - Installation Question

I bought GalCiv II when it was released years ago. I don't have any of the expansions, but I've kept the original patched. I'm planning to buy GalCiv II Ultimate at a local store since it's cheaper than buying the expansion packs these days. If I do, will the Ultimate disk upgrade my existing installation or will I need to uninstall my original game and install everything from the Ultimate package?

It should install right over top without any complaint, though if you prefer to keep it clean and do an uninstall, doing so shouldn't remove any settings, saves, or ship designs you have (though those won't be portable to DA/TA).

Thanks for the info.

One more question, should I leave my curent GalCiv II serial number in Impulse, or remove it and register the one that comes with the Ultimate package?

Edit: If you have the Ultimate edition installed, can you choose to play just the base game, or with just certain expansions?

The registration shouldn't make any difference.

Ultimate is just a bundle of DL/DA/TA, so you can choose to play the base game or either expansion as you please.

I bought GalCiv II and GalCiv II Ultimate too. What happens with the "wasted" serial of the base game? Is there a way to disassociate that serial from my account so I can gift it to somebody else?
