Is cheating possible online?

I was playing demigod against my friends and i noticed a few weird things happening during gameplay

I was Unclean Beast and had the most kills of DGs and Grunts, but a team mate had more gold than me in the end.

also i had just obtained a bracelet of rage (i don't often buy it) and haven't activated it yet but my friend knew i just obtained it

is this plausible???

i don't really want to accuse him of cheating but i just can't help think that he is somehow =/

Demigod kills doesn't mean you'd have the most gold - if he played smartly at killing the enemy creeps he can easily rack up quite a significant amount of gold. As for knowing how you obtained the Bracelet of Rage, I'm not sure, I'm not really familiar with that item - if it offered stats improvements he may have noticed this?

As far as cheating goes, Demigod's connection method prevents cheating - the game is synched, which means that each person is generating their own game on their computer and the information is checked off against everyone elses information. If someone's information doesn't match - which would happen if they cheated - the game becomes desynched, and the match is over.

by the grunts i mean creeps, but i had more kills of the grunts/creeps than he did

i'll have to play him again and hopefully i could catch him with the replays

For gold, two explanation (and the correct answer is a combination of the 2) :

- assists gives gold too, you did not mention that number
- when you are dead you dont earn gold, if you die even 1 or 2 times more than he did, he will get more gold.

(another point could be a QoT with tribute ?)

about the item, why do you say that he knew you had the item ?

with the item, i had just obtained it and then he sent me a message saying

"so you got bracelet of rage, ay?"

and i didn't die more than he did and he didn't have much assist kills

sorry i didn't put alot of info in my original posting

rotfl. no it dosnt show to your enemy. only to your allies. he mentioned clearly that he did not used it.

Yes it is possible. You can enter comand line cheats once you eneable debug mode in your profile.

Most important question no one asked: WAS IT 1v1?

Was it LAN or internet game?

And dont forget google.com is your friend.

I'm not sure then, sorry. I believe if you do 25% of the damage to a creep you're credited with the Gold and XP, however unless you do the killing blow you don't receive the Kill added to your tally. I could be wrong, however. If I'm right, this explains the situation - he simply tagged more grunts than you did. It's very interesting - exactly the reason we asked for replays!

I've been in a 5v5 where everyone had access to crazy amount of gold. I was geared up right from the get go, it was a fun game with less running back and fourth to heal, this hasen,t happen since. I'm guessing it was a cheat.

Nope it was gold upgrade. Some maps got more gold mines then others. Like zikurat = playing on those you will always have enough to buy artefacts mid game

no. it's not possible. these developers are better than the ones coding for the NSA. governments would eagerly like them to create impervious software for defense, but they like making videogames way too much.

i repeat. it is IMPOSSIBLE for anyone to cheat.

on a serious note, is there any kind of security risk to my computer when playing this game peer 2 peer?

i'm sure i probably waived my right to pursue anything legally when i clicked some box. i will likely be told, that no, there's no threat of someone using demigods to zombie my computer, but all the same, click here, and here, showing you understand it's not their liability.

Ehm thats not a cheat but a game setting. You can allow players to be filthy rich right from the start which translates to roughly 10.000 gold per player.

iirc filthy rich is 25k per player. Although I haven't played it in a long time.

You don't need kills to get gold, just 25% damage to a target. So he could have tagged more creeps.  Also buildings give money when killed, and flags also do when captured. Assists is also a factor.  Any/all of these could contribute.

also i had just obtained a bracelet of rage (i don't often buy it) and haven't activated it yet but my friend knew i just obtained it

No idea about this one.  Did he know how much money you had, and guessed?  A lucky guess is much more likely than cheating.

Wouldn't it be LOADS easier to just ask him politely how he knew?

And wouldn't posting it here make it more likely for him to think "That rat b@$tard is accusing me of cheating!"

Just thinking.

You may have your reasoning...
