For the love of God, do something about the AI

It's not even worth continuing a game if one of your teammates LD.  You would be FAR FAR better off just having the DG taken out of the game altogether.  My four year old son plays with more intelligence than the AI.  How hard is it to program the AI to start running when it is solo and two DGs start coming towards it?

Just too many good games tonight where someone LD and a close game turned into a complete route, because our brilliant AI decided to suicide every 45 seconds on the other side.

Dream on. Wait for 1.2 come out with full mod support. Then hopefully someone very very nice will make a better AI.

I don't understand why isn't the AI's difficulty set to Hard or Insane when a player leaves. Isn't it obvious to everyone including GPG and SD that AI just CAN'T fight on par with humans (even noob ones)?

1.2 isn't coming until something like Septemberish, so it will be a bit of a wait.

I don't know, sometimes the AI seems to be pretty good since the 1.1 patch, regulus AI seems to do pretty good, while rook AI is still stupid when it comes to running away.

100% agree with the OP. Had an awsome game last night where someone had a 0 sim speed. Someone said fix your sim speed and they did, by leaving. I went through the rest of the game 0-0 and my partner had a respectable 4-4. We lost in 20 minutes though as the AI was farmed into oblivion.

Add an option to remove the AI in custom games or put them on insane difficulty. Common sense should prevail here.

If mod support comes in I will sort the AI out myself, in fact I would do it for free for GPG if given the opportunity but unfortunately it seems to be given 0 priority in terms of development time.

I refuse to believe that given a decent amount of time this AI is all they could come up with.

GPG, a challenge to any one of you.

Create a custom game, put yourself and a Rook AI on one team (any difficulty), on the other side do 1 AI like Regulus or UB, doesn't really matter.  Do this on a simple map like Cataract.

Now start the game, park your character at the crystal and now just watch the AI.  My challenge to you is to not be embarassed by what you see.

Well if it is so easy then maybe you could write it for them?

Hmmm, guess it is pretty hard to write AI.

Writing a good AI is very difficult, though I think there are some obvious improvements that could be made to the current one, like someone suggested above, run when you see 2 AI's (and you dont have a friend nearby).

In general the AI needs to be a little more stand-offish. It overetends itself, especially if you start running (or fake running).

This. Please, please, please don't oversimplify how difficult it is to make a good AI. Sure, improvements would be great, but this is a complex game with a lot of stuff to weight, and AI's have trouble doing that.
