The Little Things

Perfection is never a bad thing to aim for

Demigod is a great game thats under going some important changes. So admist all these glaring issues to do with connectivity, and community map/mod editing and all that, I figured I'd share some of the little things I'd like fixing. And I mean the little things - the almost trivial. Bottom of the list priority sort of stuff - but for me its the sorta things that makes a small difference, yet small differences add up :) There's a ton that come to mind, but I'm going to post only post a few of mine to start with, because I'd like to see some other ideas too (if there are any).

  • When units get knocked back, they seem to bounce through the floor; as in the plane of falling/knockback is lower than the actual ground, causing clipping. I've always loved knockback in games, and I think Demigod does it really well, but would be nice if units maybe bounced on the floor, rather than through it.
  • When units fall off the edge, once again they can either sort of clip through it, or even if they fall off normally they just dissapear. I'd like an increase to the view distance that they fall, before they dissapear.
  • Corpses. Now I don't know the effect it would have on the game, so this might not be a valid point, but I'd like to see corpses at the least remain longer (all be it by option in video settings), even if they still decay over time. The ideal thing for me would be to have it like Dawn of War I where you could turn on permanent corpses.
  • Option for spectating games.
  • Better firing of rooks arrows from his shoulder - when he's moving the arrows tend to fire from the air next to him.

So yeah, if anyone else has noticed the little things, which by all rights should be at the bottom of the "to fix" chain, yet would be nice to include the odd one here and there over time, so in the long run all the little things add up, post here and I'll add them to the list :)

I wasnt even here last month but its great to see that we have a lot of different ideas. I'm just refreshing it then if thats ok :) Here's what was in Panda's post:

1. Make the Avatar picture on the bottom bar be selectable so you can heal the picture to heal yourself.

2. Create a MMO party like display that lets you see your teamates HP and Mana. Also make it selectable so you can heal or buff them from it. Create a toggle for it so you can make it disappear if ya want.

3. You should be able to view your pets from a similar display. Dont neccessarly need to put HP bars on it, but at least a number so you can see how many you have.

4. You should be able to select the Item and Ancient item shop from a distance so you can review items and item costs from anywhere on the map.

5. Unlock the keys bound for Camera use in the options. Some of us want to use Q and E for other things aside from rotate camera.

6. Show the name of the game in the lobby your in while your waiting for a game to start. Its frustrating to join a game and then try and invite a friend to join but cant remember the name.

---

Although I'll be honest, they seem bigger than my little things - they actually add to gameplay rather than being more aesthetical like my ones; for example I think self selection is bigger than a little thing - I've often wishes for such a button, it's a great idea! :D

Another trivial one I'll add to my list is the Demigod rectangle selection boxes aren't very good - Rook and Oak's come to mind; it's not immediate through much other than experience which demigod it is, as it's often a blurred closeup of a portion of their face.

Hmmmm yes good list! I would like to add the lack of cat-eared moe girls in maid outfits. There is obviously room to add cat ears to sedna, maybe even some glasses too!

Edit: Damn forgot to mention instead of Yetis for sedna add a pack of rabid foxes so cute they stun when they attack.
