Ragers, Quitters, Plug Pullers, and Pros

Ragers, Quitters, Plug Pullers, and Pros

How to please almost everyone all the time

When someone leaves, no matter the reason, I think everyone left in the game would like to play a fun game instead of going back and finding a new game.

With that in mind, after someone leaves for any reason:

1) The leaver gets a loss and receives 0 favor.

2) The leaver DG gtfo. No AI.

3) Their enemies' are all offered the option to leave to even the teams.

4) An enemy is randomly chosen from those that accepted the offer. If non accept, and enemy is randomly chosen.

5) The 'chosen one' is dropped and receives a win as if they played the leaver 1v1 and won the game receiving all favor (250?).

This is 100% agnostic to why anyone left or the morality behind their decision. I hope that discussion won't repeat here.

I feel that this approach would be awesome because it does as much as can be done to salvage the game experience for the people left in the game. This isn't to supplant anything like a banlist or a concession option, but rather something to supplement anything else. Out of all options for dealing with lost players, I think this one offers the biggest benefit to the most people. If you agree, please say so. If not, please say why not. If you're happy chaosn.... just kidding. :)

Fail.

Why?

Right now it is like picking every other player and making them quit. Picking one and giving them something instead of a waste of time seems much better.

I agree that on the surface it is 'OMG, you made me quit because someone else did?!!'.

That is only a knee-jerk reaction. The net result would mean more people getting to enjoy the game they are in.

On paper, what works for the greater good sounds perfectly reasonable but as was said before, whoever happens to be the lucky draw that gets kicked from a game is more than likely going to be a little annoyed, especially if they were doing well and 'especially' if they were playing with friends or other people that they now have to wait on to get another game going.

I see a mechanic like this further amplifying the anger at rage quitters.  Everyone who gets involuntarily booted from a game is going to be screaming on these forums and personally, I think they'd be right to do so.  In my opinion, one player should not have the power to knock another player out of the game.

Does leaving not almost always effectively kick everyone out of the game? This isn't empowering anyone to grief any more than they can now. It is limiting the damage they can do by making it only impact one.

It often encourages people to leave but no, it doesn't forcibly kick anyone.

Somehow adjusting the value of the AI replacement is probably the best and cleanest solution to this problem from the devs point of view.  We can squabble over where to draw the line until we're blue in the face, but simply changing the value of the AI is probably the most plausible solution.  My solution would be:

 - AI replacement is worth 50% of normal DG gold/XP.

 - AI replacement receives only 50% of normal gold stream, the rest of which is given to the remaining player with the most flags capped at time of the quit (with further tiebreakers being DG kills, structure kills and finally damage).  Of all the player stats, flag caps are probably the best indicator of skill (hugely debatable, I know) and at any rate, the guy capping the most flags is probably most likely to value structure upgrades.  The AI rarely upgrades structures, so taking some of its gold away and reallocating it to the remaining teammate most likely to do so is probably a good idea.  Splitting the gold too many ways (like among all the remaining team members) might result in a net disadvantage as it takes considerable time for 1/6th (for example, in a 4v4 game in which one person quits and 50% of his gold stream is distributed among 3 teammates) of a player's normal gold to add up to much of anything substantial.

With just these two small structural changes, something approaching balanced play may yet be achieved in games with a ragequitter to two.

with 1 player left i dont think its possible to make it a even fight.

but looking at orginal poster

"3) Their enemies' are all offered the option to leave to even the teams.

4) An enemy is randomly chosen from those that accepted the offer. If non accept, and enemy is randomly chosen."

i think this should be tweaked to all players including those on the same team gets the chance of getting kicked. the AI randomly redistributes the remaing members into new teams. why try keep part of old team if its already has happend a big change even keeping old teams wont be fair. restarting at this point would lead to a fair fight continuing from were they were would be a possibilty but not fair. could do a vote at this point wheter restart or keep on current game not sure if this vote before or after new teams if such are needed get chosen.
