This might sound as Cliche as the "Demigod Dying" posts but...I like it.

I know it sounds Cliche or something but I like it. The corny voice overs that say SMITER and the various other one liners are a hoot. Takes me back to Mortal Kombat 2 days. I love how they made the Rook a huge stone fella yet he has an odd cuddly quality that really makes me wish they'd make him a plushie (I'd buy 2).

I like the item system, its catchy. It would be super neat if we could make our own items for single player with certain restrictions but there is a copious amount of stuff you can play with anywho.

Now admittedly I haven't tried multiplayer yet but I can't get into RTS's with other people usually, people figure out something to abuse and if you don't do that too you just can't really contend (plagues all RTS's).

Indeed while there isn't a whole lot to it, I think that's what currently makes me like it. For what it does have it does it pretty well. I've heard about terrible AI and such but maybe I'm just not looking hard enough. I tend to find myself dealing with some pretty persistant fellas who refuse to let me jack their flags.

So who else likes it? As I said in another thread I treat all companies as Indie companies. There is no real strong correlation between funding and quality. Honestly when is the last time a multi million dollar project felt like it had that kind of quality? (Not that this was one). I know SPORE was impressive if looked at as an indie game but utterly stale if you expected more than that from it.

It just seems to me like overal games are getting prettier, but the idea people are about as talented at the million or billion dollar level as they are at the tens to hundreds of dollars. For a fun romp though this to me seems like a beautiful collaboration of silly and nonsensical characters, voice overs, and mobs.

I too generally dislike RTS MP games... As I can not micro/macro/APM/whatever as fast as most of them, nor can I remember every single unit/building/ability hotkey, etc.

Which is why I like this game, and I do fairly well on Pantheon.

Yeah I hated DoW II for its simplifications but I think this one did it well.

Glad to see someone thinks so :). It does seem the only people who ever go to forums anymore are haters.

I hate the corny voice over, it reminds me too much of quake, I really don't think any game needs that stuff, but w/e, not a biggie really.

I LOVE the voices and the announcers, reminds me Mortal Combat or Killer Insinct (I loved both).  It's very satisfying for me when after killing someone I have the announcer yelling out "Smiter.... double smite!"

Just good fun! :-)

sounds like SupCom is up your alley then; micro and triple figure APM are not required to be good. brains, timing, and focus are what is.

GREEN ELF SHOT THE FOOD!

The voice overs in this game are one of the best parts, I've already started repeating all the little sayings in Skype with my friends when we are playing.  And the start of a match FIGHT! is absolutely genious.  I wanna see my demigod rip out the other dudes spine and a scream of FATALITY next XD

Like many other people I don't play RTS online because they suck for it (elite build strategy, rush rush rush), but this game is more of an action game like Diablo in Vs mode with all these other elements going on, tons of fun.  I just wish my games online with people other than my friends who I can connect to would total more than 2 :|

I love them gets kinda absurd though when it goes:

GODLIKE

GODLIKE

DOUBLE SMITE

GODLIKE

TRIPLE SMITE

The actual quak sounds are annoying though.

@OP the fact they won't let a flag go is one of their problems, even on insane they'll run into situations that won't end well for them. Especially on catatract they try to cap the gold mines on the side lanes while standing in two towers firing ranges. You see them head over there and can just tele scroll followed by a good stomping. They'll do this multiple times too. Also for the worst ai watch a hard rook on your team. I had him literally stand still while a sedna meleed him down with no attack back.

remembers the voice overs back when they were REALLLY corny.

plus, its always nice to have an original death count announcer rather than the UT2004 DOUBLE KILL!. don't get me wrong i love to play CS:S and run around with UNSTOPABLE in my ears but the SMITER is nice for a change of pace

this game really is great...  I have a lot of fun with it...  8 characters, at LEAST 3 strategies for each character...  now that's a LOT of replayability!  I still use Regulus, I've tried snipe build, mine build, but just love those angel wings!

I love you devs, you always make games I love, let me know if you are hiring!

[edit] P.S. I saw a copy of Total Annihilation at the store yesterday for 20 bucks... ALMOST bought it, but i still have my CDs lol...

Eh, I miss the "Oh My Demigod!" one.

Bring it back!

I personally don't see this game dying. Companies with good reputation (IE: Stardock and GPG) can survive terrible launches. Look at the launch of Steam + HL2 for Valve. It all depends on how much of a reputation a company has.

Companies like Funcom for example are screwed if they launch a game that's broken...even after 6 months of release. Age of Conan is never going to get back to the 700k subs it had within the first month of release. That is two MMO games in a row they launch broken. They don't have the reputation or enough of the dedicated fans that Valve, Stardock, Infinity Ward, etc do.

If this problem gets sorted out this week I see it being a heavily played game with good sales.

With that said.....yes this is a very good game in my opinion. Even my girlfriends been playing it and all she ever plays is Mario Kart on the DS. She chooses the queen of thorns and tries to rush the enemy base and dies. But she's having fun at least.
