because I love Galciv II soooo much, and it's so perfect, that the thought of not playing it anymore because I'm busy with III makes me sad. Galciv II is without exaggeration, the best PC game, I've had the pleasure of playing. So please guys, don't bother making a galciv III and let me enjoy II for eternity.

As much as I enjoy GC2, there are some flaws in it I wouldn't mind seeing addressed in GC3 (which is practically a certainty at this point, so your request is kind of moot). Except for the fact that I actually played GC2 before GC1, I would have said the same thing about GC1.
The trick with any new iteration of games is to make it seem like they're still offering exactly the same gameplay while being innovative enough to feel totally different. A contradiction maybe, but business wise i doubt developpers or designers MUST stop exploiting the gold mine until it simply depletes from lack of interest by users.
The title can evolve beyond its inherent limits with a few new ingenious features only for yet again another one of your "eternity" preference! GC_

Strangely, it's the concept that draws more attention than the tagged version numbers. In anything. Quake-III, included.

The only problem I can see in the entrance of GC3 is the lacking of community over here in GC2. If you were to look at the GC1 boards, you'd know instantly what I'm talking about. I'm not saying the devs themselves ditching attention to GC2, I'm saying the players themselves would lower their frequency here once they had a new GC to play and talk about.
So there is my only dread for GC3...the community in GC2 would take a hit.
I agree with Loupdinour. To accentuate this point I would say that the Galciv 2 community is one of the least interactive communities (metaverse excluded). I am a big fan of grand strategy games and one of the other games i play (too) often is Hearts of Iron II by Paradox. The paradox forums for HOI2 alone is far more active than here. Im not bashing at all agaisnt the GalCiv2 forums im simply stating that it would suffer from a GalCiv3 to the point of being irrelevant. Now i have to make sure i finish my AAR before it comes out!!!! lol
Back before TA came out and there was still a horizon not reached, these forums were bristling.
As long as it is not like MoO3 compared to MoO2 I really look forward to a GC3 and have a blast playing part2 as time passes by
