It's a sad world, unfortunately. Stardock are generous enough to offer a pc for the one millionth purchase and all people can do is stomp their feet like small children because they feel it's unfair in some way.

It's a sad world because too few people care about how things affect other people (specially when they have no reason to see the issue). It's way easier to just see what you want to see, and let life go on as if everything is ok.

That's VERY evident in these threads. Just because some people see things differently, other people feel the need to demean them by throwing insults, stupid jokes and whatever else they can come up with.

You can do one of two things: congratulate the one millionth customer on their new pc, or spend your day being miserable because you think you are hard done to.

"Hard done BY", Fuzzy..... JAFOCHECK ...;)

If everyone here had perhaps heard the phrase "looking a gift horse in the mouth" ..... AND actually comprehended its meaning..... none of this crap would be here on this thread.

Actually, the gift horse saying is totally irrelevant in this case. It's only relevant if the one who actually wins the computer starts complaining about it being inadequate.

I think this thread has more in common with the other end of the horse.

By calling other peoples opinion horse sh*t, you're doing nothing but add to the problem.

But  , a darn funny reply... Even though it's partially aimed at me.

Hey, but what about that prize.  Man, that would make my millenium, and all I have to do is be the millionth (old or new) customer to buy a piece of software through Impulse.  What a great thing for Stardock to do for the community.

If anyone feels the need to assasinate anymore characters, then please just attack mine and get this over with.:(

It IS a really nice thing to do, it's not for the community though. It's for a random new customer who may not be interested in the community at all.

This pretty much sums up my problem with this whole thing.

Sorry you think so Mick.  Every give-away contest out in the great big world is usually only for one big winner.  We would all like to win something so nice, but why don't we just be happy for the winner.

Somehow everyone of you tend to interpret my comments as some kind of greedy whining... I don't care if *I* am ineligible for the win, my issue is that pretty much *everyone* already in the community is ineligible (unless going through the trouble of making multiple accounts for the sole purpose of trying to win, which most of us will NOT do, because we have a sense of what's right).

Don't think for a second that I would not be happy for the winner, because I will be. I hope it's someone who can put the beast into good use, and if it's not, well... It's the way random events goes sometimes.

With that spec, it's definetely not old... It *could* be used, which I doubt, but I don't see how that would make anyone less happy with it. :D

Thanks for that Mick, because I just won.......just kidding!:D

I for one will congratulate the person who wins, and I hope the winner is announced, just in case it is one of the ...mmm....complainers about this give away by Stardock. ...just my 2 cents worth...

The thing with the Dominoe effect is that once it all starts falling -err- dropping on each other, none is left standing unless the last stays up - in which case, you'd need to put a few thousands back where they were to try it all over again.

Strangely, people are exactly like that with a slight difference - we like to guess where the tumbling COULD stop if only to laugh about who incorrectly place these Dominoes.

I'm caught in a loop, just like everyone else not only because i enjoy Dominoes but also because i have no influence over the result.

Bad luck included.

Not so.  Everyone in the "community" is not necessarily a customer.

meh I had a reply but never mind. This isn't worth it.

i enjoy Dominoes

Me too,great pizza!!!:pizza: :pizza: :pizza:

( My comments were meant as a joke,sorry you didn't "get it");P

Oh, i got it alright - i laughed all the way to the barn down the street. :moo:

Human emotions are complex enough that if we were to add chaos & misunderstandings into the 'controversy', we'd get more than just Dominoes like conversations, ever here. |-)

I'd just like to say that this thread is therapeutic.  I never have to worry about falling apart and killing myself.  No matter how pathetic I feel, I'll always have this to think back on and see how far I have to fall before I hit bottom.

Seriously, this was almost funny when the whining started, but arguing about the rationality of said whining... wow.

I feel like a shining example of humanity, that and taking a shower.

I completely misunderstood the whole thing

My apologies to all. Good luck to the lucky bugger who gets the PC.

If there had been an official reply to this, there wouldn't have needed be this much fuss over the whole thing. Instead it has only been flames about how ungrateful people are who even consider seeing this some other way than a perfect act of generosity.

I don't think it *is* this way, but it's easy to get the impression that Stardock were waiting for the "idealists" to bully those who think different to silence.

Here's what I would have wanted to see:

"We made this giveaway to celebrate a great occasion. It was not our intention to make anyone feel left out." and maybe even "we will consider other ways to celebrate occasions like these in the future".

With this, I will drop this topic...

Give me this rig. I'll do some good with it. Load it up with every scrap of software that you can, and I'll auction it off. I can feed a lot of hungry kids for five grand. If I can find a corporate sponsor that is willing to overspend, then I can feed even more.

I am certain that there is a food bank in your area that would be delighted to receive this boon.

You can benefit one person, or you can benefit a hundred or more. (And stop any and all whining in the process.)

So, will StarDock give a prize to the 1M poster as well? This thread has become a sensation and amazingly has managed to stay within the topic created by the whiners.

Besides, I don't know why all the complaining, I'm gonna win the rig since I know exactly when to make the 1M purchase necessary to win. I can see into the future and I saw myself playing Sins and that new rig. Well, maybe not the future, more like a dream, but it can happen.
