GameSpy.com has started publishing their 2008 Game of the Year Awards, and today they start off with the  PC  category.  Both Sins of a Solar Empire and Galactic Civilizations II: Twilight of the Arnor were in the top 10!

It’s especially exciting as Galactic Civilizations II: Twilight of the Arnor won for 2008 PC Strategy Game of the Year!

“Thus the genocidal Korath can quickly develop weapons of mass destruction but find diplomacy difficult while the mercantile Korx get three times as many trade technologies. From this seemingly small change springs one of the finest strategy games ever made. Put simply, if you've ever enjoyed a strategy title, you must own Galactic Civilizations II: Twilight of the Arnor.”

9th & 7th... not bad, not bad at all!

What is it with FPS titles, may i ask? Year after years, there are always (it seems) a gauntlet of 'Pick a weapon & Shoot at that enemy (monster, invincible or otherwise, btw) overthere at the end of the tunnel' type of games which **always** rank up the ladder of PC stuff.

I blame fast pace simulation gameplay for this - but i DO have a bias towards Intelligent context rather than reflex.

Still, a console remains a different device than a 'puter - i could insist.

So what game is that pic from?  That's not the way TS work now, so is that just an artist impression?

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe those games are not as simple as you describe them to be?
