I could use a little help

Basicly when I play a game pressing any of the keybourd buttons the game locks up ranging from a split second delay on the Half Life 2 demo (I am mostly a console gamer) to a 2 second freeze on Supreme Commander when I hold the shift key for a few seconds. I am using vista laptop with 3 gigs of ram a 2 gigahertze (I think thats how its spelt) and a Nividia Geforce 8600. Please help sorry if this is the wrong place.

2) What's the make and model of the CPU? There's a huge difference between a 2GHz Pentium 4 and a 2GHz Core 2 Duo for instance.
3) nVidia
4) Is the graphics-chip powerfull enough for these games? You mention it's a laptop you're using so it the graphics-chip not a less powerfull mobile version?

Wow 3 gigs of ram? Not bad. Could be a driver issue. Try checking to see if you have the most updated version.

Thanks and the most confusing thing is with Supreme Commander had the same problem on both the first and last levels of the campain.
