Galactic civ 2 apoc+ other dreadlord missions need tips<Spoiler>
Hi as some of you may know I know have gciv 2 + all the expansions, I bought the gold version 1 year back approx and this is the first of me getting around to playing. Well I did play before once and I just wasnt fast enough or researched in the correct order to enable me to handle the dread lords. If I remember correctly after this mission there is a really tough mission with dreadlords due.
In regards to in game as far as I can see theres a planet at the top right of a medium map that I have to kill asap. Also it seems the ai has all the planets so I only have 2 planets to work with, I made one of those full of market centeres and the other full of research labs and factorys.
To the best of my memmory I got planetory invasion, stellar marines, impulse 2 or 3, lasers III or IV, enhanced logistics, general life support, advanced hulls, xeno factory construction (There was more but this is roughly what I had)
I also was able to build fleets with 12 battle axe ships in them and tryed to spam the enemy planet with them until the defense icon went down then get a transport there to invade but they just kep owning fleet after fleet at the planet.
To be honest I dont really know the game to well and would appreciate any tips people have the time to give me in relation to optimum research paths, essential research, ships, stats of and amount of ships in a fleet required to beat a dreadlords fleet.
I like the game but there so many options
I just dont know near as much as I need to know and I dont want to play the newer expansions as I wont go back to the older ones and I just think I am getting better value for money and fun doing them in the order they came out. I realise I should probably be designing my own ships , I am going to start that but what I have trouble following in the research is figuring out which research opens differant ships, I am just havent got my head around the format, Very occasionally I see a research sqaure that says ship x y and z needs 3 techs but sometimes I notice some of the techs I already have? (Maybe Im just interpretting it all wrong, any useful info on all this aspect would be greatly appreciated to the point where I know the most optimum paths to get technology and ships)
Thanks!
