GalCiv Chronicles, chapter two, verses 8-10:

"And the people offered up their prayers to the heavenly gates of Stardock, from where their loving gods so generously bless the lands with their divine grace. But lo, when the people demanded multiplayer, the hearts of the gods were hardened, and their retribution was swift. And so spake the lord Kyro, "No."

Scorpion, browse the forums a bit. Find the one by Frogboy, explaining why there isn't multiplayer.

Aren't there at least two stickies about this?

Edit: Alright, that might've been a little harsh. Sorry, I was spending some time in some other gaming forums, and forgot about the happy-go-lucky feel here. Now I feel bad, I've tainted the GalCiv2 forums. :(

Sorry I'm so stupid to ask,
its just I have 4 brothers and lots of freinds,
and we like to play.

There is a 'hot-seat' cheat that you can use.
But it is not really a 'true' multiplayer type of thing.

The second player basically takes over one of the AI players.

I have never used it, so I can not give the particulars.
But it might be good enough for what you want to do.

As for a true multiplayer mode for GalCiv2, it simply won't happen.

you are not the first person to ask for thisor thinks it should be that way it has been stated that GC @ DA and TA will not see multiplayer setup,

we have answer this Question allot and maybe we are getting a little short with are answers
This will not be the last time it is ask either!!

It`s Kool that you have allot of Friends and family that you can play games with

Don`t be sorry for asking this Question maybe we should say sorry for are replies. If you hang around long enough you`ll see this question pop up again with the way the game plays it is not really set up for multiplayers

No, we understand. But, my two favorite points against it:

1st, Galciv is an awesome game. I'm sure we all agree? Well, 33% of budget usually goes to making a game multiplayer. So Galciv would be 2/3s as good.

2nd, Galciv is singleplayer. Ship design? You would be designing ships and you would be attacked--or everyone would have to wait for you. Diplomacy? How would that skill work?

@ Lord Zarth, Its funny that you ask how diplomacy would work when its blatantly obvious that it would work the same way, you would just have to actually type messages to your human allies and or friends. Otherwise I still find Stardocks position on hotseat gameplay to be a little strange as you can already cheat your way into a H.S. game and not to mention that hotseat requires no net code. As for comment about building ships, in mp it wouldn't work due to time constraints, but in a hotseat game well your friends are right there if they take too long hit them upside the head.

Myself I play gal civ in H.S. mode all the time and actually prefer to play it that way with friends rather then SP as its always more engaging when you pit yourself agianst human players.

And yea i know im beating a dead horse, but hey weather Stardock implements H.S or not ill still be playing in that mode exclusively.

@ SwiftBoot, it's funny that you would question my question when you don't even know what the Diplomacy Skill is.

Is that Abe Lincoln ??? :NOTSURE:

SIR NASTY OF TANG has it right.

because#1 the dimplomacy skill is for making it easyer to make deals with ai,
would not help agaist people, and#2 they said there not making a multiplayer,
so umm...there not, I exepted that.

@zarth, hey man i didn't mean that statement as a personal attack on you so no need to get testy. Otherwise I was under the assumption that you were referring the the diplomacy menu and that system as opposed to the various techs associated with that line of research.

@SwiftBoot

I'm sorry for misinterpreting you, and I see why you could have thought that that is what I meant.

no worries chief I did come off as a bit snaky and for that I apologies.

but lol on another note its kinda ironic that we were talking about mp diplomacy and then had a little diplomatic encounter ourselves.
