Will This Election Be Decided by Race and Gender?

I was watching Oprah on the news complaining about how people were giving her grief because she isn't supporting Hillary just because she is a woman.  That got me thinking that this years Presidential election, for the democrats at least, will be based solely upon race and gender.  You are going to have a great majority of people voting for Hillary because of her gender, and a great majority of people will vote for Obama just because of his race.

I was also watching part of a focus group this morning where someone said..."I'm a feminist first, so Hillary gets my vote".  The same things were basically said about Obama as well.  I think it's pretty sad that the democrats vote will be based on such shallow things, but then again, I didn't expect them to vote smart.

It's pretty pathetic if you ask me.

I consider my wife an intelligent, informed person . . but over the past months she's jumped into political discussions with "What kind of name is Mit anyway?"

Now I don't think she'll vote one way or another because of Mit's name . . but I know it will play a part at some level.

I think most people are influenced by the same type of thing. I know folks that will vote the party they were raised on no matter the issues. I know black folk that will only vote for other black folk or the least white guy available. Same goes for women that only vote for women. Or women who discuss which candidate is the best looking.

What's an single, independent, black, Mormon, warmongering, woman supposed to do?

And all kidding aside . . . it is pathetic.
