What is Twilight of the Arnor?

What is Twilight of the Arnor? Is this a free update patch on Dark Avatar, or is it a new purchase and basically a new game?

Twilight of the Arnor is listed in the updates at Stardock Central as an available update for Dark Avatar, but I did not download it because I am happy playing Dark Avatar for the time being and would rather not go to a new game or major changes if that's what Twilight of the Arnor is.

I seem to be dominating the questions here, but I hope that the questions I'm posting reflect questions that many others who came in at the Dark Avatar level are probably wondering about, not having played the previous GC games. I hope that is OK.

Twilight of the Arnor is the newest expansion pack for Galactic Civilizations II. It is currently in an open beta testing stage, and should be released in January. It adds a host of new features, WAY too many to list here; changes that make Twilight of the Arnor the absolute best GC2 has ever been.

Please change your post title to "What is Twilight of the Arnor?". It can be confusing about what you are asking when you use such a vague title.

It creates less confusion in the long run, and you are most likely to get a quicker responce from those who can help you.

I'd like to add that these expansion packs are pretty significant. They're extensive as far as how they affect the game. The original Dread Lords (aka DL) and the subsequent expansion, Dark Avatar (aka DA), are really quite different, both worthy of lengthy interest. Twilight of the Arnor (aka TA) will be a whole new game even more so and I'm really looking forward to it. Also, the expansions do not overwrite the original game, so when TA comes out, you'll have 3 games on your computer to chose from. That could keep a new player occupied for years!
