spore ships

In regards to spore ships, if you aren't the Korath, is there any way to actually use spores? If you buy the ship from the Korath, can you use it? Or does anyone have a mod available that allows anyone else to build them? Has anyone successfully stolen that technology or is it even able to be stolen? Just curious from the standpoint of trying to play something a little different. Like sporing the Korath planets to give them a taste of their own medicine...

Sure, you can steal the tech, and yes you can use the ships if you are able to buy them. At first I thought there should be some kind of penalty for a good race that uses spore. But then I realized that they might feel they were saving billions of their own soldiers' lives by using it, so what the heck?

I wasnt sure if you could use the ship without the tech. I learned that the hard way when I tried to invade a planet with a bought troop transport, but didnt have "planetary invasion" researched.
