Try a game with the tech level set to Very Slow ... in my experience the AI becomes fricken Sun Tzu, though I don't know why. I was about 4 victories and no losses on Intelligent. Now I have been beaten three times in a row - and I don't mean just beaten, I mean killed, gutted and my skin left to dry in the Altarian sun!
