AI attitude levels

Hi
I was just wondering what the AI attitude plusses and minuses are for? Theoretically they are suposed to give you an idea of what things are reducing or increasing the attitude of an AI player towards you.

I say 'theoretically' because, well how can i put this,, i cannot seem to see any kind of 'harmoneous' relationship between what the plusses and minusses are reading and the activity of the attitude level? Or am i missing somthing here?

They do tell you what the AI finds pleasant/repulsive with your own civilization,,and in the long run their attitude will adjust accordingly.

Your ingame actions can alter that though,,as can the use of diplomacy.

For instance,,repeatedly requesting 'gifts' will lower your relation,,while supplying ships to a civ at war or declaring war on a common enemy will raise your relations without showing up in the plus/minus stats.

So how do i find out precisely what unlisted actions will influence attitude?

As far as I know, there is no one place where you can find this. Gifting money, techs, or influence points are said to help, but this is only anecdotal evidence. This course of action has seemed to keep me out of war, (at least temporarily); but I have no way to really know if that was the case. There are other cases I am curious about, most notably the U.P. vote. If I vote with a certain race, do they look at me more favorably?

Mystikmind, I don't think you are missing anything. The way I look at it, the listing includes all the things the AI is taking into account, but there is no weighting to it so you cannot tell how much each factor really matters. In my last few games, for instance, I have noticed several times that I had six 'plus' factors and one 'minus' factor, and yet the race was cool or worse towards me. In short, the list is a guide, not much more.

Ah i see, so the list is basically like every other indicator in the game.... completely out of touch with reality!!
