SLOW Download through SDC

I've been having this problem for a while now. When I update GalCiv II through Stardock, it takes forever. And no, I'm not talking about it first archiving the old version. After it does that it shows the file it's downloading and an estimated speed. Many times it shows a few bytes per second. Sometimes less than 1 byte per sec. I've got a download speed from my ISP of upto 5Mb/sec, so it's not that. Also, I run a network traffic monitor sometimes and the d/l speed reported by it pretty much matches what stardock indicates. I usually have to cancel the d/l and retry several times before it will complete. Any idea why this happens? I can download very fast from many other sites.

Thanks.

Have you tried changing servers in SDC's options? There are two different ones to choose from.

Thanks for the suggestion Kryo! I'm not sure if I knew about that and had forgotten or if I never knew. I guess what they say about the memory going is true. Anyway, when I first checked there were three listed. I believe they were US-California, US-Chicago, and a number. When I hit the refresh list button, the list changed to US-1 and US-2. Makes me wonder how it worked at all. I'll try these out. Thanks again!

Another item may be the type of connection you have. Unlike DSL, if you are using cable (ala Comcast), the whole neighborhood shares the bandwidth. If this is the case, try downloading in the wee hours when the traffic will be less. I just downloaded 1.4x at speeds of 1500KB/sec +.
