The Drengins aren't expanding!!

Yes, I know this is a re-post, but they really aren't!!

I just started a game with a huge galaxy with me, the Terrans, and the Drengins. I was about half the galaxy away from them and I noticed their influence ring hadn't budged. So I buy a scout and he gets there after about 20 turns and I find out that they have only colonized two planets! Now, they only have two because of the one colony ship they started out with. I could see if they had three planets and another colony ship on the way, but, comon, this is ridiculous! The Drengins are suppose to be the big bully of the galaxy, not the sap who gets walked all over! It has been like this for all of the games I have played. I have v1.12, this is the latest. There has been multiple posts like this, but this should of been dealt with a long time ago.

Yeah, what difficulty level? Because the difficulty leve can mean the difference between Drengies conquering the galaxy, and staying in their little hole.

I have had that happen once with the Drengi on tough level. I think it is a minor bug that somehow keeps the AI from initializing properly.

It is definitely a random thing in my experience.

I've had that one at Normal & Tough levels - in my case it seems that the sphere of influence from startup never changed on any of the AI's. On one occasion I played almost right thro to see what would happen, deliberately leaving them alone - zilch - stopped in the end, by that stage had hundreds of Planets on a Gigantic Map, mega sized battleships everywhere - but each AI had two planets and a basic colony ship parked up next door to the Home Planet.

Not happen often - its is rare(ish) but real wierd ...

We have had people send us saved games with this and in each case the AI was set to "fool".

Here's how to verify - go to the foreign policy window, go to the data tab, go to misc and find out what their intelligence is.

The difficulty is on Normal. There are planets just about 5 turns away that are atleast habitable.

Frogboy,
this happened to me once. I believe it is an occasional bug. It's annoining because we can't check if the bug exists for each civilization until we meet them.

I was playing a gigantic galaxy, 9 opponents. I swear that I had level at tough/intelligent, without randomize intelligence; that is how I have always been playing. After I had met 4 others I noticed I was far outpacing them. I had like 10 planets. They had one or two and very primitive.

I checked their intelligence and all 4 were at "fool".

Where do you see their intellegence at?

It appears that while the game is set for a higher difficulty the AI may be playing as fool. I did not think to check the stats when I had the incident. The game in question for me is recorded as a victory on Metaverse at tough level.

I noticed that during the game setup, if you start the inteligence to "fool" select your oponents, then set inteligence to though and then switch on another oponent "his" inteligence is still set to fool.

That was with an older version tho.

Just something you may want to try out.
