Please tone down the +Econ event

Please, oh please devs of GC2, give me an option to turn off random events. You know the ones that give you +econ +/-influence and +pop growth(and maybe others, but those are the main ones)

They are game breakers!

Literally, if you get the +econ event for a decent amount of time, the game is over. OVER. You could be hanging in there at 90% spending and getting -5 BC/turn and then the +econ event hits, boom I'm at +900 BC/turn with 100% spending and a lower tax rate. One time I was going for an influence victory, was at about 71% and bam that -influence event hit me. Well, so much for that, either hit end turn mindlessly until the event goes away(which can take several years game time) or just go for a different victory path.

Well, I wouldn't quite call these game breakers (it depends on circumstances, and yes certainly they can be guaranteed game winners), but I do agree that they ought to be toned down. I know however that I play exclusively on gigantic maps, and sometimes I wonder if these random events are less potent on smaller maps (I can imagine that it might be challenging to balance across all the variations players can impose on galaxy creation).

I sometimes wonder if SD has chosen to err on the side of having extravagant bonuses (for the sake of having some fun) vs. game balance. Probably a good design choice, but there are other things I would like to see toned down. Most notably the Eyes of the Universe, and the diplomatically oriented achivements/trade goods.

I don't think it's such a big deal since these type of events effect ALL the races.

Well maybe it's more of an issue on gigantic maps, but these events tend to favor the human player over the AI, since the AI doesn't really know how to take full advantage of them. I'm on my first full game (after 2 short trials), playing at masochistic, and it seems pretty darn easy to beat the AI.

I would prefer it if they adapted the AI to the game instead of adapting the game to the AI.
