Good concepts for next expansion?

Any ideas? Let's inform Stardock.

Galactic Civilizations 2:Dread Lords is a great Game.If the following concepts are included in the next expansion then it would become a near perfect game...In my humble opinion.

-researching and constructing Ringworlds and Sphereworlds.(see the novel: "Ringworld", by Larry Niven) A Ringworld is an artifact constructed using a systems planets and asteroids to form a ring around the sun. The inner surface is used like a planet. "Shadow Squares" provide day and night cycles and solar power. A Shereworld, or "Dyson Shere", is the final costruction phase of a Ringworld. It is the ultimate engineering project of a civilization. A total sphere around a sun. The inner surface is used like a planet. An artifact to be feared and revered for its potential.

-researching and using terraforming. Planet atmosphere/environment to match different races (terraforming would alter a planet to a specific type and improve planet class).

-researching the ability to destoy planets and use the resulting asteroid belt to contruct a new planet again...and again...(This would require technology close to being able to construct a Ringworld.)

-researching the ability to destroy a star ,and thus its planets, and use the resulting gas and debris to construct a new solar system with a Ringword again...and again....(This would require technology close to the level of constructing a Sphereworld.)

-more civilizations per game; larger maps/galaxies; more races that are less humanoid; higher maximum number of planets per solar sytem: ten is a decent number.

-endless research: each "breakthrough" would lead to pluses to various categories such as military, diplomacy, happiness, industry, etc.Science Victory could be reaching a chosen amount above top rival(such as 3,5,or 10 times more advanced).

-multiple paths of simultaneous research possibbly using funding sliders.

-better proportions: solar systems "tucked" into one "square/space".You could then enlarge the "System View" where there are system "squares" for exploration, travel, ...and battle.

-expansion into multiple galaxies: via "regular " drives wich would take... a long time; and later something quicker like a gate or special warp/teleport.

-the in game, each battle, option of player control over battles...space and ground(though the ground part might need some redesigning).

-orbital bombardment of planets using any/all ships and weapons:beams, missiles, cannons, etc. There would be varrying degrees of dammage to the planets infrustructure, population, and morale based on the total ships attack value.

-planetary defenses such as missle bases, beam bases, fighter bases, orbital platforms, and planetary shields.

Orbital bombardment would certainly be a welcome feature, especially if you could hold a 'siege' on a planet with your orbiting ships until either the planet 'gave up' or got annihilated...

but you realize the ai could do the same to you and then people would complain, why does the ai always bombard my planets? and there will never be control over fleet or ground battles, they have said that multiple times on many posts. the devs didnt want tactical combat and control over the fleets, so they didnt put it in. they designed it the way they wanted and have explained why they dont want that kind of combat system.

I could...I will use this as an argument...in all politeness: "Why does the AI always invade my planets?" Perhaps we need to illiminate planetary invasions to satisfy some players?...It's still a great game...don't get me wrong. This is what forums are about.
Also, a leader (an Emperor for example) historically has often times lead his army right at the battle field. In the rear of the lines of course.

Don't think that would be possible. Not enough "space".

I would like a Terraforming Restoration tech.. which would do... add squares/tiles back to a planet based on how many was lost, thus repairing damage to planet by Bombardments/etc... however this won't be easy in terms of production and cost, doable but take a while. I thnk that would be cool.

re: Original Post. I like coming up with ideas for expansions and stuff.. But I don't agree with post #1 except for the more races and sizes. Always looking for fresh blood I disagree with expansion. It does take a long time, or longer on bigger maps but I don't want it harder than it is now. On the contrary I've introduced a mod to give more speed to the game. Control over battles - this is tactical and definitely don't want it nor desire the micro involved with it. I would like to see perhaps each race have different looking ground troops and vehicles. Orbital bombardment is in the game - you don't do that with your warships you do it with your transports/assault landers.

-researching and using terraforming.

That's already in the game.

Not in the way he describes; terraforming would alter a planet to a specific type and improve planet class. I take it get a class 0 to a class 6 or something like that.

the in game, each battle, option of player control over battles

Has been requested before (Guess next to multi player the most requested feature). Not going to happen, to exploitable.

I like a bunch of these ideas....

I want more alien races.... more tech... more planets... more weapons (planet killers)..... I like the ring/sphere world ideas.... tucked in planets.... sounds.. good

I like combat the way it is now...

mutiple galaxies... etc...

More/more/more ship componenets....

See this post concerning larger maps https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=162&AID=110455#850798

Some people seemed to like the possibilities of a multilayered map with worholes or the like linking multiple galaxies. Even if those galaxies are just size regular or even small... think of the gameplay possibilities.

Never underestimate the "You don't know what's there" factor.

bigger galaxies in the form (arrangement of the stars) of a real galaxy would be great I think

Spiral Galaxy 30x30 sectors would make fun...

Reply: That's cool that you too have mentioned the idea. I was rather refering to other galaxies and not other "dimensions". There are billions of stars in a galaxy. There are billions of galaxies grouped in clusters in the/this universe. Another "dimension" would theoretically be another universe full of galaxies.

MAN I LOVE YOU.. you took my ring/sphere world idea..

take all planets and make one super planet..

restoring a planets PQ via terrorforming .. GREAT IDEA!!!!

Increasing usable tials.. NEEDED.. (should be time required.. not expence but a maditory time)

Ability to research more then one thing at a time.? this would make it slower but easyer?

I would be happy if the first expansion was simply par for the course, as far as expansions go. I list what I think those are at the bottom. I already read somewhere that Brad has a "mirror universe" in the works, where the Altarians are evil & the Drengin are good. You're in the pocket universe where the campaign left off.

Typical things for an expansion:
- New & different techs, Galactic Achievements, etc.. Some unique to a particular alignment.
- New campaigns. That's "campaigns"--plural. With cut-scenes. A healthy set of individual scenarios as well.
- A new race or two.
- New anomalies, new UP votes, new Luck & Creativity events
- New ship artwork, new hulls. It would be nice if they came with a set of prefabbed ship designs, because I don't like spending all my time designing new ship looks, but I also don' t like that all my ships look the same, either.

None of this is rocket science.
