As we say in the Colonial Fleet; Thank the gods...

Publishers always seem to stick bigger labels and plaster there names across a title when they didnt even develop it. Usually ending up in every tom dick and harry saying "the latest EA game, Empires At War sucks" even though its not developed by them. Yet Electronic Arts is an odd case as it does develop its own games as well.

I thought you all kept getting burnt by Publishers so decided to Publish by yourselves. What made you change your minds?

He said "distributing," not "publishing." I think Stardock is still the game's sole publisher in the 'States, just that T2 handles distribution, possibly along with other distributors.

Wow, I thought Stardock self developed, published and distributed.

This is an eye-opener. I hold T2 in the same regard as Starforce when it comes to respect of gamers and taking care of consumers needs.

Then why are they even mentioned in a Top 10? May aswell change the name to UPS or FedEx instead of Take-two

Take-two is a Publisher last I recall, so if they are labeling Stardock's game as their OWN, getting listed on websites as the Creator, and Distributing it, they can very well be called the Publisher now.

hehe thats a bit harsh when you look at some of the games T2 have released... the GTA series for a start and manhunt? how many publishers would have had the balls for that one.Max Payne is also a Rockstar game, again T2
They arnt perfect its true but they are one of a very few names that still holds any credability when im buying a game

Having said that i do hope startdock will remain independant as in all fairness i cant see many publishers allowing them to continue as they are, eg. release a game and then update it and look after it in the way they seem to do
most publishers are a 2 patch deal and if its not done by then its unlucky consumer

I had some bad experiences with them regarding support for titles a couple years ago.

Anyway, yeah I know the company is like a "badboy" of the industry in some regards and to some degree I respect that. But when you start to screw over your user base for whatever reasons - business, political or otherwise then I see no need to support such endeavors.

Stardock develops and pubilshes Galactic Civilizations II.

But it does not distribute it to retail in North America.  That's done by Take 2.  The article is in error for the same reason a lot of places get it in error - many people don't realize that Take 2 is actually one of the larger distributors in the world ala Ingram Micro, Tech Data, etc.

Cool!

I'm sure you will show them the error of their ways!

Take-Two is the Distributor only. Stardock published the game which is why you do not see any reference to Take 2 on the box. Game sites and stores do not know who Stardock is because this is their 1st self-published title. Because of this, they get lazy and put Take 2 as the publisher.
Stores I can understand, but if a gamesite cannot get the name of the publisher right, why would you use them as a valid source for any other data on a game?

Are you sure you haven't been bought out and just don't know you don't have a job anymore?

All this EvilArts hostile takeover against UbiSoft made me worried that some rotten publisher (read: fat guy in a suit) would buy up StarDock and add them to their slaves in the roman boats with a cracking whip.

We're pretty unlikely to get bought out.  With 3/4ths of our business from non-game software, we'd be a hard fit.

Hmmm... Sure I believe you Frogboy!

Can we say "Stardock Entertainment X" (SEX) a Frogboy spin-off company boy and girls??

ROLF - just kidding!!

Thanks I'm glad they aren't the Publisher, I think the last Take-Two game I had didn't have the right CDs in it. You can imagine how I felt about that.

Awesome game btw

I dropped a note to the editors, it's fixed now.
