Hitting ESC in Tutorials screen renders interface unresponsive

Hitting [ESC] in the Tutorials screen (such as trying to stop the playback of a Tutorial video) renderes the interface unresponsive to mouse input. The cursor still moves, but no buttons can be selected.
ALT-TABbing out and back into the game produces an empty display.
Music if playing will continue in the background.
The only thing that I've been able to do at this point is hit ALT-F4 to exit the program.
I keep triggering this glitch because I keep hitting [ESC] in an attempt to stop video playback in the Tutorials screen.
