I suck at art...(txt)

Really, I do. I suck bad. I mean even my stick figure people look poorly drawn. I've tried to play around with the ship design putting all kinds of stuff to hardpoints, rotating stuff and trying to make something cool, but I fail really bad. Trust me, you don't want to see my hull designs, I am so ashamed.

But I see people with cool hull designs like https://forums.galciv2.com/?ForumID=162&AID=104432 , and I wold love to use such a sweet looking ship. Is there anyway for us non-artistic people ot use the designs that the talented people have created(if they are willing to share of course) I checked the library in the Metaverse and the databanks and they didn't have anything. Dunno where else to look.

I don't have enough experience in the game to answer the question about the mechanics of sharing designs, but don't give up on your own designs!

Start small, and don't try to mimic people who are spending LOTS of time in the ship design editor to build these hyper-developed ship concepts. There is great satisfaction (for me, anyway) in coming up with a design that isn't copied from someone else, even if it looks a little.... er, funky.

It may look funky, but it's MINE!!!! And over time, it will look better, as I spend more time fooling with the ship design editor.

We will have a way to share ship designs, pritty soon. for the moment if you send the "ship name".shipconfig and the "shipname".shipclass files from your My Games\GalCiv2\Ships folder to your friend, and you are both using the same version of the game. You should see there design. (Provided you have the techs to build it)

Thank you for the link. Most of my work so far has been mostly mechanical, with a willingness to scrap and start over. The ship in the link above took three tries just to put in place the basic frame, then a couple more to get the gun the proper size. It was the better part of a night. In all honesty, Stardock's parts make the artistic aspect by themselves. I just try to make sure there aren't too many gaps.

Basically, keep at making ships. What you're seeing posted is usually attempt five.
