Well, it happened. Last night in fact.

I turned in my rank list. Now let's just hope I don't have constant diarrhea until Jan 23rd.

For clarification, the rank list is me, listing the residency programs I interviewed at in order of my preference. The programs that interviewed me rank all the people they interview in order of their preference. A computer algorithm then looks first at my list, takes my top choice and compares me to that programs rank list. If I rank high enough there, I match. If not, it goes to my second, and so on until I either rank or am SOL.

So any prayers/good vibes/positive energy people have to offer will be greatly appreciated. I get the notice on the 23rd of January. Too far and too close all at the same time.

Ugh, makes me sick from nerves just thinking about it.

What are your preferences, just out of curiousity?


Just to be cautious, I am not going to be posting that. I would hate a program director to stumble across this blog and see my rank list out in the open, as they don't know what our list is.

I gather you know your list, but not the Hostpitals, hence the butterflies?

I'm sending a prayer to the big guy and my hope is that you will get the one that you want. I know how nerve racking it can be, but don't worry, they are nervous too, having been on that side of the fence before. Good luck!

Yikes, does that mean you may have to move elsewhere in the country? Or will you get to stay put? Even if you don't want to get specific on which hospitals you applied for, you can at least tell us if this will involve interstate relocation...

ModMan, that is really very kind of you to say. Thanks.

Even if you don't want to get specific on which hospitals you applied for, you can at least tell us if this will involve interstate relocation...


While we could stay here in NC, the possibility of an interstate move is also very, very real.
