As the Slyne, I was told ingame that I needed Extreme Colonization to land on two different planets.  However when I looked at their tech tree, there is no such option.  It's been removed which does make sense to me logically given they are not carbon based lifeforms.  No way for me to then land a colony ship though...

It doesn't end there.

I later realized that I could trade for that technology.  I did, but could not still land.  Realized I could still trade for it with another partner who I also received it from.  Argh.  A third trade partner could offer it to me.

In addition, I now realize that besides Extreme Colonization there is at least one other environmental tech that I can keep trading for, but cannot receive.
