They give the AI fits when I attack them with Panthers I've Tamed. 
I have yet to see any unit that has more movement points, and well levelled, their attacks can be outright dangerous. They're perfect, in my army from being tamed, for going after enemy archers ... there is simply nowhere to run, lol.
