Pirate Pillagers Sieging Planet Bug

Was playing against the AI with a Friend tonight and about 2 hours into the game I had a Starbase with Aux Govt protecting a planet. the Rebels had aligned with the Pirates and was using their units.  The Pirate Pillagers were Sieging one of my planets and had destroyed the population.  The planet showed it was still being controlled by the Starbase with Aux Govt. 

The Bug was the Pillagers kept trying to kill the planet. they were firing endlessly at it.  I let this go one for about 5 mins to see if they would stop.  they did not.  I guess they thought the planet was still alive because of the Aux Govt.

My friend and I were both Loyalist and the AI was a Cruel Aggressor.

And yes, the AI does not play around anymore. They were bringing the pain tonight.  And yes we lost.

nottabug. if they let off the bombardment, your pop(and hence income) would go back up... and when the starbase died, they would have to re seige down the regained hitpoints. 

 

Now, if the ai were smart, i suppose they could leave only one pillager there, and send the others off to bombard some other planet, or scuttle most of em for cash and fleetsupply... but thats asking a lot from a computer.

yeah this is not a bug.  Players in multiplayer do this all the time

It could be seen as a bug or a feature, but either way I think the effects are intended: to make the planet useless as long as the bombadiers are in the Grav. Well.

I'm not so sure I like this as being normal.  Its not normal to keep bombing a planet that has already been decimated.  To me this seems out of place.  I would like to hear Yarlen or one of the other devs comments about this.  To continue bombing a planet that has no life does not seem normal to me.

i'm wondering if pirates get credits for doing planet damage similar to Pillaged War Chest. if so, there might be a a reason to keep bombing since, as pbhead stated, the planet hp will try to come back up.  instead of bombs, think of them as very noisy looters.

I could counter on this because I have seen where a planet does get wasted and the AI does back off and leave the planet.  but I have a feeling that with Aux Govt in place the AI is thinking the planet is still owned and a live which is why they are continually bombing it.  I still think this is bugged and not a normal thing for the AI to be doing.

AI backs off if your fleet shows up.
