Hello
Just considering the game itself and it's price, I'd say it's worthy even just for single player or LAN party games.
However, Multiplayer probably would be tough at start. Yeah community is small and yeah, they are usually rude enough to kick new players out and leave them without a single game. But, not everything is that bad. Lately more and more new players are coming, so you can find someone of about your skills. Not many though, but depends on time. Moreover, you can find some players which are willing to help you to learn (easy or hard way). Some prefer shouting at you to do that or that, others help by pointing your mistakes or what to do, to get better. This is a team game, so solving a weakness in a team should be priority (instead of ignoring and leaving the new player to die unexpectedly).
As I see you at least a bit use forums (which many new players usually don't), and here you can find strategy guides, other helpful information, mods (very good for new players), etc. If you need to ask something just ask
If you happen to get this game, I'd be willing to be your "trainer" and teach you a thing or two if you'd like (in game nicks, "Darkliath" or "Darkliath_")
