A couple of weeks ago, I offered to create a mod for myfist that would automate the launching and docking of all squadrons on a map. The primary purpose for this mod, among other things, was to force all squadrons to dock when no enemy is within your gravity well(s) and to launch automatically when a target jumps into the well. Obviously, this means a great deal for the general memory usage that squadrons take up late-game. I also added a manual switch that overrides the automation for the player/allies in order to preemptively place squadrons and/or homing mines, though this part proved to be quite a challenge as I tried to integrate it into the automation system.
As it stands, the mod is roughly 90-95% bug-free, with the only real issues dealing with defensive structures:
> Hangar Defense modules are affected by every part of the buff sequence; however, squadrons launched from these structures refuse to dock when the manual switch is activated.
> Starbases are affected by all parts of the buff sequence; however, while squadrons attached to a ship or hangar defense will launch automatically so long as the normal launch toggle is activated, squadrons attached to a starbase have the ability to be launched returned to them but consistently wait for that launch toggle to be activated each time the manual switch is hit. It currently requires an extra click or two to launch them, but I'd rather find a way for them to launch automatically, just like everything else that's equipped with squadrons.
I haven't tested the mod out extensively in all possible situations, but what I have tested with the Advent in terms of how this ability and buff set affects ships seems to work flawlessly. With that said, I've run out of ingenuity for the time being and am looking for any helpful people who would be willing to help me test the mod out, offer suggestions, and pinpoint any lingering errors.
My preference for testers is to have people who can understand the coding of the abilities and buffs in case there's some issue in that part of the mod, but I'm not requiring it. Once you volunteer to help I'll pm you with a link to the mod.
Thanks so much!
