Regarding clan tags:
First, I think that is something that only "serious" clans do. Right now, CP is the "casual" clan with about 50% "casual" players and our focus seems to be in-house alternate playstyle games (yeti/shadow wars, lots of 5v5s in general, Favor mod games, uberFix games). What we bring to the table that most other clans don't is our SIZE. We are HUGE and this means that, more or less, we can always be playing with or against someone in the clan since someone is bound to be logged on. Similarily, I have no idea who is actually part of our clan and who is just hanging around. Eg, I would never consider Thunder to be in Clan Pacov even though he has been using our vent recently.
Clan tags denote organization. Right now, we have none. We have no official roster, I don't know the vast majority of "best" demigods who everyone has, I don't know peoples builds. Now, part of that is that I just don't play a lot with you guys, so I guess that's my fault. But, still, we have no organization.
Currently, I know that gL operates basically under a loose dictatorship: what Omnicron says, goes. I know that GM is much more hierachel and they actually have "roles" that they play inside of it (I also consider GM to be the clan really focused on only including the best players in the game: that is a lot different than CP's focus which is lots of in-house and casual games). CP has... no real leadership. We kind of have "old-timers" and "new-timers" but there really is no authority chain or anything else like that.
If we do the whole "clan" thing then we are actually going to have to do "tryouts". They could be as simple as just playing against say, TB/Sedna/Queen / Pacov/Hedgie/Trouser and not doing horribly. I would assume that all of the old-timers would be automatically eligible
But what about irek and RAWR?
If we create clan tags and someone fails to complete the tryouts are they still allowed to play on our Vent? Or they just not allowed to wear the tag? I'd be okay with basically a "tiered" system where the people who WANT to be competitive and represent the clan as a whole (and good enough to) wear the tags and all the "casual" players get to play in the vent and enjoy all the in-house games but no clan tag for them. But it still sort of goes against the whole "all welcome" feel that CP currently has. Again, our focus is playing 4v4s and 5v5s, not winning high-level 2v2s or 3v3s.
Plus, even though I do consider myself a "clan member" I'm not 100% sure I would use a clan-tag on myself unless everyone else did (peer pressure is a bitch
). I don't play with you guys a lot, I'll completely admit and I'm not a HUGE fan of 5v5s and "Yeti Wars" and stuff. I reallly enjoy 4v4 Levi and silly games with doubles and stuff are fun and it's new and refreshing and good to do from time-to-time. But it's not why I bought the game, so I don't strictly fit the definition of CP.
Basically, I think we need to re-assess what type of clan we are going to be, and define that NOW. Right now we are really a casual clan. What about if we had two tags? CP and CPC <- Clan Pacov Casual. Casual has very low requirements (don't be more of a dick than pacov, have vent and at least listen, don't cheat or drop games, be halfway decent at the game and willing to learn). The "CP" members are the "official" members who are more fit to do clan v clan games.
Also I want a private channel in vent "Hedgie's Antisocial Channel"
