Yea, it's a little different if a game has no singleplayer component at all. While DG doesn't have a lot of SP content I still play it for fun once in a while and have really only taken it online to play with friends on occasion. Otherwise I'd be part of the 77% who never used the online MP.

Singleplayer is fucking retarded, I could beat the normal ai on my first try, and triple hard vs me alone on my second. Multiplayer is a lot more fun.

Yeah, I'm a multiplayer type myself. I never even finish campaigns that are halfway decent. Like the Warcraft 3 and Starcraft campaigns. I got bored and hopped online to play real people. Can't go back after that.

The reasion is simple. It depends on the kind of player you are. For a casual player the AI is fine. If you do not play on a regular base then also some games against the AI are nice.

Multiplayer on the other hand require serious skills or it is no real fun if you do not like to get stomped. This is general problem with all mulitplayer games. The longer a game exist the higher the skill level of the regular players becomes. So there is one point where it is no longer fun for casual players to play that game online because the others are too strong.

Exactly. I am not a good player compared to most of the online crowd. I don't care about optimum builds or the like. I just like to start the game up, have some fun for 15-30 minutes and go about my business. And I definately have no need to listen to some 13 year old trying to cuss me out because I didn't pick the skills he thought I should have or played the game exactly like he wants.

builds in demigod aren't hard by a longshot they are just memorizing what to buy, and choosing between a couple favor items thats it. The real issue with newb games is that lack of teamwork and paying attention with portal scrolls to help team mates. Demigod is a team game, and it really sucks when your team mate just goes off by himself to creep or sits at flags when your partner is in danger. I wouldn't mind such games if there was unranked option so everyone could learn together in peace.

There is some cliche of us "pro" players that we are super competetive and we don't have any fun. In contrast "normal" players play "just for fun". Playing with a team and competing with another can be a hugely fullfilling experience. Most "bad" players not only play the game bad they also don't have any feeling for teamplay and I repeatedly got told to shut up and play the game instead of actively communicating about team strategy. IF YOU DONT LIKE TEAMPLAY, YOU SHOULDNT HAVE BOUGHT THIS GAME.

P.S. I also think you're remakr about 13years is insulting.

I preordered this game as much out of support for SD and their views on PC gaming as much as anything. I knew I wasn't going to be playing online much, it's just not some people's thing. I just happen to end up enjoying the game more than I at first thought I would. I have never played any RTS, arena style or otherwise online. Did play TFC for years, but that is a whole different ballgame. That's not to say I don't like teamplay. I had a blast with friends while using Skype and I probably would of played more with others if there had been some sort of standardized voice in game.If I have to take my hand of my mouse to type to communicate then I'd be of little use anyways at the speed I type .

Maybe the 13 year old comment was out of line, so I'll expand it too anyone who starts getting overly upset and talking like a Springer show reject just because something didn't go their way. I mean come on it's just a game. You yourself have already dropped an F-bomb in the thread. For what? Does it get your point across any better? Just makes you sound uneducated. I know, I know "Welcome to the internet" but the fact is there is still plenty of people that can have decent, intelligent conversations around without resorting to such. I talk to them everyday on various forums and the like.

I understand the builds niz, but the fact is I don't want to use the same optimum build everytime. When your just playing for the pure fun of it you can take what people consider weak, crappy builds and have some variety. In SP or comp stomping with friends noone cares and you can just laugh about it if the AI ganks you due to it. That's part of the fun to me.

Anyways, It's been interesting and has reaffirmed some of what I already knew. I don't frequent this forum much anymore so I'll leave you guys to it

There are at least two kind of players that have a different definition of fun. For some it is fun to play online and play against strong enemies. They spend much time in playing the game online and get better and better. As they are searching for a challange they do not want to play with weaker players as it is annoying for them. On the other hand there are players that have for example not that many time to play online in a regular base or they just do not want it. So they want to play for example only a game a day or sometimes they do not play a single game a whole week. So their base skill is lower and they need less challange to be satisified. For such cases Demigod is also a good single player game, and also a game that can be played with friends sometimes. Then things like health stacking is no issue as probalbly no one knows or cares about. It seems that the second kind of people is the majority of all Demigod players.

Basically the number in the first post say that more than 3 out of 4 people that bought (!) the game do not play it online. They did not even tried it. People that like team play usually play such games online and at least give it a trie. I do not assume that the majority of this people only play Demigod in lan mode or have only bought it but never played it at all. So an obvious conclusion is that most players play Demigod only in single player mode.
