No, he was "dethroned" by the other gods because he was spreading his seed a bit too carelessly.
But I don't remember anyone saying he was dead.
The intro says he was "rectified, immolated, and cast down from the deep places", which I kind of figure means he's waiting for the first expansion pack his chance to take revenge on the other Ancients.
