Regulus' mines

Hey people,

I recently started playing Regulus a lot and I finally realized something. Instead of 3 mines doing 450 damage (at max rank) they do 450 each! Which makes a total of 1350. Now with the speed decreasing of 30% I always seem to get a kill when I throw some mines behind a demigod and as soon as he retreats he gets blasted, chased and killed. I absolutely love how many times I kill a demigod by throwing mines into their "retreat" path and end up killing them. And if it isn't enough already, the minor visability gives me chance to snipe him as well.

I'm not saying it is overpowered, but it seems that some people do not know how to counter it, excluding me.

So what are you suggestions to avoid this kind of problems? Run when Regulus comes?

If you're a general avoid them if they're thrown at you like grenades (which should be the only thing changed if anything is at all.) then use minions to get rid of them. As an assassin try to carry totems to reveal them if any are currently down and avoid falling for reg's bait. Generally if a mine reg runes it's due to him trying to pull you into mines. They're a non-issue if you're sedna as her health regen is too great combined with reg's pitiful early - mid game dps.

i think the -30% movement decrease need to be set a little bit down cause it´s stacking.

i´ve played against erebus and the regulus and both got decreasing movement speed.

if the regulus hit me with the mines and erebus hit me too i´m so slow , it´s like i´m running in slow slow slow motion.

a balance would be nice ^^

well, of course, there are many factors involved with approaching regulus, mainly player skill (of the Regulus) but when possible I prefer to be agressive and move towards him and get in his face right as he tosses his mines.

Mines are fine. Even when used as a nuke, they are fine. 1350 dmg when used as a nuke, is about the same as other characters maxed nukes (assasins). (Tb fireball 1350, Rook hammer 1700, Ub spit 1600(over 10 secs)) The mines have greater cooldown  than other nukes as well as a higher mana cost, and to get the 30% slow effect its 5 skill points down. Id say its balanced. The thing about regulus that most people dont know, is that the mines is actually his nuke, not snipe. Snipe have far to high cooldown and low dmg to be used as a nuke. It is more of a utility skill, really.

I don't see how Regulus' mines are a special case. Like someone else mentioned, they do around the same damage (combined) as a max level direct damage ability from other characters. If you were playing as TB, that last 1350 Fireball on a fleeing DG would certainly kill them much the same as three mines would. Mines can also be seen with a 50 gold item, swarmed or warped over, shielded and walked over, or simply detonated by cheap minions or creeps.

The snare effect is powerful, sure, but snare effects are Regulus' thing.

Tb fireball 1350

incorrect, you can only do a 1350 fireball if you get full points into deep freeze and get the fire and ice ability, clearly mines are better than fireball per points invested(4 to 9). that isnt even factoring in the slow effect either.

Rook hammer 1700

correct me if im wrong but i think damage is split when there are more characters around, e.g. if you use the hammer over an entire creep wave you do 1700/number of creeps and demigods.

Ub spit 1600

this does 150 initial damage, and 1500 over 10 seconds at lvl 4, putrid flow does 500 damage over 5 seconds aswell if you put another point into it.

its 5 skill points down

mines is actually only 4 points

Don't think that you're right about that hammer slam, it would render it pretty useless skill.

anything that cures debuffs stops the -30%  

and most dudes at lvl 10 and above have arround 4-5 k health  so  it  doesn't do much dmg pluss it can be avoided unlike  spit or fireball

i said avoided not countered i know u can counter it  i jhave many times  but u can't avoid it

 

and sednas heal doesn't always counter it it is like 1in 10 percent chance to actually be countered with it

The mines are also insane burst damage.  Place 3 down and wait, then place 3 more down.  During the fight throw another 3 - that's MASSIVE burst damage that will kill nearly any hero.  An enemy melee hero can now never touch you without first going through the mines, assuming they even know they are there.

The counter is obviously to use minions but it doesn't always work, and sometimes backfires because a swarm of minions near your hero just assures that you'll set every mine off instead of only one or two.

Mines are very strong.  I wouldn't say unbalanced but I could see a slight nerf in the future.

They hurt towers too, what's up with that?

Spit is acid. Acid melts things. Makes perfect sense to me.
