Percent items simply add that percentage of your mp/s. If you have 20 mp/s and get a 30% mp/s, you'll have 26 mp/s.

From here you will see that DGs natural mana regen is quite low, ranging from between 2.4MP/s and 3.6MP/s depending on which demigod you play at lvl 1 till between 7.7 and 9.5 (TB is exceptional at 12.4MP/s) at lvl 20.

So, [Natural regen for your level] + [Increased MP/s from items] * 1+[Increased mana regen % from items/100] = [Total MP/s]

Ex. TB at lvl 20 with Vlemish Faceguard and Plenor Battlecrown. (12.4MP/s +15 MP/s)* (1+(70/100))= 46.58MP/s.

When you are lvl 1, your mana regen is quite low, so the Scaled Helm is a nice item to get at first (+575 mana, +4MP/s, 550g).

Then when you have 1750g, get Vlemish Faceguard, and if you still need mana after that get Plenor Battlecrown. Scaled Helm can be sold later. This usually covers most players mana problems.

Excellent, thanks for the info! That makes sense. All this time I was buying the plenor battlecrown (+1575 mana +70% mana/sec) thinking it was more of a boost than the Vlemish Faceguard (+1050 mana +11 mana/sec. and 4/sec aura.) Erubus at lvl 1 starts with 2.45/sec regen. Plenor raises that to a whopping 4.16/sec, versus Vlemish which raised it to a paltry 17.45/sec.

No wonder I've always had early game mana problems!

(Side note: Both hats raise it to 29.67, throw in the cheapest helmet and now it's 36.47... Not bad at all, and that's only at level 1.)

I think the mana items are a bit too powerful, and natural regen far too weak. The Vlemish Faceguard in particular is so much better than all three helms prior to it and better than all the other helms save the 6500 one that gives the cost reduction aura (which is really good but pricey).

Does anyone ever not get a Faceguard? I always pick up the Scaled Helm right away also, it basically doubles your regen for cheap.
