Was thinking of buying this game, which would make it the first game I've bought new in 5 or 6 years. I usually just wait a year and get them for 5 dollars used. In many cases its not even worth it to buy a game when it comes out. For example my brother bought Left 4 Dead for 45 dollars or however much it cost and only weeks later it was on sale for 20 dollars. That's not even close to my friend, who bought that Conan MMO for full price of 50 and couldn't sell it, and saw other people begging to sell it for 5 dollars, not even 2 months after it was released. Not only price, but the overall gaming experience is much better months down the road, patches and balancing issues all dealt with. Anyway I'm getting off topic.
My main question is, what is the developer's 'plan b' for Demigod.
Let's say the game goes Hellgate London and completely tanks. Are the developers going to just dump it and move on? I feel sorry for anyone who bought that game.
Why should I buy this game now? A game of this nature can almost completely change from retail to full patched months down the line. Why should I have to pay MORE money up front to beta test the game?
Basically what I am afraid of is a game that I invest 39 dollars in, becomes something nobody plays and one can find for 5 dollars on craigslist, only in 4 months.
tl;dr version: Are the developers of Demigod planning on working on this game religiously over the next couple years (like a certain popular warcraft 3 mod)? Or am I paying 39 dollars for something that'll be pushed aside and forgotten very soon.
Excuse my post as I haven't been following the game at all nor reading the forum, so if this is something that has come up and been beaten to death please forgive me.
