Help with combining mods.

Hi, I've been trying to combine Epic Immersion v.5 with Sins Plus 1.3a for my own personal use (the one mod at a time thing is annoying) and I think I've got it all worked out and properly changed but SINS crashes every time I try to load it. This is my first attempt at anything close to modding SINS and any help would be appreciated.

Might depend on which version the mods were made for.

Well, I know that Sins Plus as a standalone was discontinued, and incorporated into DANMAN's. If it wasn't 1.05 compatible when it was discontinued, that alone is enough to make your game crash.

Both mods work individually. It only seems to crash when I load the combined version.

Okay, try either running the mod under the developer .exe, or going to your user.setting file and (towards the bottom) turn on the few error logging/reporting options. This will help you track down what's crashing it.

I never managed to get the developer.exe running. I just copied the files for the planets/bonuses/research from Sins Plus and edited them to fit within epic immersion.

The dev exe should run if you run it from the root install folder (where Sins of a Solar Empire.exe is), and you need the .NET 2.0 for it also I think.

But you can still turn on the error reporting in the user.setting, and run it with the normal executable. It'll still tell you what file and what line it's crashing at.

Okay, I got it working. There was a problem with the GasGiants.entity that was causing an infinite loop and thus freezing the game. Thanks for the help

Actually, I had another question, if you don't mind. I downloaded a bunch of maps, but only some of them show up when I go to select maps. Are they incompatible with v 1.05 or something?

For the ones that don't show up, open them in notepad and set their versionNumber to 1

Umm I got the maps to show up but I get the defeat screen immediately after they start @.@

They need to go in the Sins install Galaxy folder, not the mod path Galaxy

I put them in there and tried it too. Still didn't work

Also make sure you gave every side a place to start at.

Also make sure that when you do put them there, they won't show up in "Custom" but among all the other maps. If they still don't work with versionNumber 1 and sitting in the install folder, something's wrong with the map
