Hey guys! Two hundred internet dollars* for the person who correctly guesses what this map is based on without me telling you:

Well, that offer's void cause I'm just going to tell you. In an effort to broaden my modding horizons beyond working on Dawn of Victory all day, I'm** making what is currently a mini-mod based on Starfox 64. It isn't much to look at now, which is why I delayed making this announcement for nearly a week, but screw it.
Right now, I'm just making something that works with the universe, making new planet types, etc. I mean, sure I could just make it a regular map, but then you'd have to load Sins Plus for the new textures/meshes and at that point you might as well just go the whole nine yards.
If I learned to model/skin (which I should anyway), I could probably do a lot more and turn this into a TC of sorts, but that's a little far off. My current abilities are map creation and scripting, so that's where I'm applying them at the moment. I also have no idea how a TC would be done of a game that features essentially four fighters running around blowing up entire armies with only casual asides to the Cornerian defense force they're serving. So whatever.
This is a 1v1 mini-mod paired with a pretty awesome map. No BS balance changes, just a balanced attempt at creating a knock-off map. Everything's basically there - from the toxic waste dumps of Zoness to Solar to the most awesome level ever, Katina. ALL PLANETS HAVE THEIR OWN TYPE. This allows me to give specific bonuses to specific planets. I'm attempting to keep this separate so that it doesn't interfere in case you're retarded and forget to unload the mod or something, but no promises.
Having said this, there are a few alterations/concessions I've made. For one, there are two versions of the map. One is each "path" separated exclusively except at Corneria and Venom, which should be fun, and then there's an "authentic" version with each planet linked in the possible ways you could go from that planet in the game. I may incorporate some sort of branching system where based on research or something you can get to the "hard path", but that's a little far off.

Second, Area 6 and Bolse are both asteroids. I may keep Bolse an asteroid as that's sorta what it was in the game (though it was artificial), but Area 6 is an air defense zone, not a bloody rock.
Third, I may actually add another map with the two factions controlling what they do in the game instead of colonization, but I'm worried about balance already.
Here's a shot of the Sector Z icon - the other two are ingame right now but this is just an example of how easy it is to get these to look great.

I'll release this as soon as the planets are all done.If you are a modeler/skinner and are interested in making this a full TC or at least a better mini-mod let me know.
