Before I continue, I'd like to say, I support newbs. I was one last saturday when I first picked up the game, but sometimes these noobs, even if they have played longer than me, which makes them just generally bad, make ME come out and sound like a male appendage. Here is an example of what I like to call 2v2 with a Turtling Teammate.
It's the beginning of a warm, Sunday day on a random-medium based system. It's me and some random guy(first mistake) vs two others. I'm Vasari and my teammate is TEC while the other two guys are advent. I quickly jump on the gun and start expanding while taking over the majority of neutral extractors. About 15 minutes in, I have two asteroids and start heading towards a desert planet, which will be the main battlesite later on. As soon as I take out the rebels and colonize the planet, enemy advent with about 6 disciples and a mothership , come and we have a little skirmish. I win because he surrenered. At that time, I had enforcers researched so I started pumping those out.
Speed up time, I was systemmatically sending squads of 5 enforces into his base to take out key componenets of his empire and get intel of what he is making so I can counter it. It is just a matter of time until I send in my full force to take out his planets. I'm going good, economy wise, research, everything. In the back of my mind ever since I started harrassing this enemy is where is his teammate. I'm more scared than usual because my teammate has done jack **** to pressure the enemy, and has spent most his money on static defences and hangar bays, which means the non-harrassed enemy is having a field day conomy wise.
Fast forward again to about an hour in, I get attacked from the side from a massive siege party and disciples. At this time, the other enemy i have been harrassing comes in with Drone hosts and starts attacking with his teammate. I'm getting smacked around like a pinata even though I have counters to the drone hosts and most other units, but they have me by the balls. I ask for my teammates help, minute goes by....I can almost hear the trumpet of glory behind me, I look, and a whopping 10 cobalt light frigates from my teammate comes. Now, when he gets there, he gets pissed off at me for not helping him at my colony so he retreats into his false sence of security that is bad defences. Than I start politely asking him "why the **** do you not have kodiaks by now? let alone LRMS?" He than proceeds to call me a male appendage and leaves. Knowing that I would lose, I surrender, taking the loss.
What does this conclude to? Well pretty much, I'm just venting to tell you the truth. But to all new people out there, if your teammate is pressuring, in my case, I was being extremely aggressive, pressure the other enemy. You can still go econ, but you HAVE to pressure the other enemy. How I see it, both teammates need to go rushing, or both econ, not split because it will end up one being attacked by the side.
