This is a great game, no question about it...but I have yet to actually see a victory screen. Once you know the game is over, it seems beyond tedious, pointless, and a complete waste of time to wipe out every last planet while they potentially run around and try to set up some futile colony on some backwater rock. Let's face it, each game takes a LONG time, this extra pointless stuff at the end is just torture.
Do some of you actually go through with it? On a small map it's not that bad and I may actually finish one of those some day, but anything bigger...I just don't get it. I hope they patch in some victory conditions other than total annihilation.
For example, I generally quit when I have destroyed every non-asteroid planet on the map. Unless their fleet is attacking me somewhere, this seems more than generous. If they don't come back to defend their home planets and aren't attacking mine...I've won in my opinion.
You could have: Capture the home planet Victory Condition (probably wouldn't be able to change your home planet in this one), destroy the flagship VC (highest level capital), wipeout non-roid planets VC, culture VC, economic VC, technological VC...anything but total annihilation really.
I simply don't have the time to waste on what is essentially clean-up. I should actually be, you know, cleaning up my house instead. Accomplishing something. The first few hours of this game are great though, and more than worth playing.
Are there any plans for something like this in the pipeline? Or will I be stuck with the psuedo win? Thanks for listening.
