games questions

I was wondering, is there a way to preview what the influence area of a star base will be before you make one. Like by clicking on the constructor first? I ususally have to save, build, restart and then move the constuctor before i'm happy with the location. This would be when I'm trying to get a few planets inside of the radius of an economic start base, so that I can get the most out of the production upgrades.

Also, just how much of a planet has to be inside of the colored radius for it to get the benifit?

actually in dl the constructer will slightly light up the same area that a starbase covors

so yes there is a way in dl to get the area of effect for a starbase by clicking on the constructers and the more constructers you click on the darker the sphere is

in da the area of a constructer is outlined by a dashed line makeing it easier to see

one thing i forgot is that if you have the constructers in a fleet that fleet counts as one constructer as for the shading is concernd

IIRC, this was an addition in a patch (1.2?) so make sure you're playing an updated version.

Well if you're seeing a coloured radius, that's how large the area of effect an Influence base is going to have. It might take a few modules to really make a difference in the other race's borders, but it's not going have any impact outside of that radius. So you've basically answered your own question.

He's talking about the colored circle around any starbase showing it's area of effect, such as the area an economic starbase increases planet production, or trader income etc, not the influence border. Sometiems only a part of the planet is actually covered by this spere.

Thanks, i was trying to get a whole bunch of planets completely inside the radius of an econmic starbase. so its good to know i only have to get a part of it in.

Maybe i just havent noticed because of the color the terrans use, but how do i get the constuctor to show me its preview circle? or is it always aropund it and i never noticed?

always around it and you never noticed it

if you put three or four in the same pile but not fleet them and click on them all the circle should darken enough to see
