Hmm that really blows my budget man. What exactly makes mercs a must have. It's 20 dollars!

Wow I go this game when it was still in beta and just had time recently to revisit it. I haven't even really played it at all. I was just watching the forums and seeing the game develop over time. Now there are like 10 DLC packs at 5 bucks apiece besides the mercs pack. Jeeze man can anyone give a general run down on what is good DLC vs the ones to skip? I'm on a budget here and can only maybe get $15 worth. Am I missing out by not getting mercs?<
Hey guys, When Sins first came out there used to be a library you could go to to browse all the good mods. The library is gone or I can't find it anymore so I am forced to check the forum's first few pages or check moddb. I thought I saw one that upsized the background textures so they would look good at 1920 x 1080. I can't turn on the skyboxes because the backgrounds are way too pixelated. I can't seem to find the proper
Mostly what the AI seems to do is put a bunch of ships in the star's grid and send a few at a time maybe to a particular world. It will keep repeating this even if it means defeat every time. I don't think my skill is good enough to play other people online so I mostly play all games against AI. Regular Entrenchment seems to be quite good AI but I just don't care anything about the factions. Thats why I only play SOA.
I am trying to play SOA with at least 2 or 3 ai factions. I have tried regular and hard AI settings. No matter what the computer does it seems like once I build up a fleet of roughly 50 ships or so as any faction I steamroll them into oblivion. I am just wondering if that is to be expected. Should I try the unfair AI setting? It seems like the built in AI doesn't really know how to use these factions and ships. Have you got any suggestions on how
Tested out your new excelsior mesh. She's looking good. Thanks!
Ah hey thanks for that. I figured it had to be something simple. Something exactly like you said that one of the textures was not connected to the mesh. Really guys I love this mod. I know what it takes to model and texture a mesh. Do you guys you XSI or 3ds. I've never used XSI it looks kinda weird. I do have some practice with 3ds though. I can model but when it comes to textures i'm weak in that area. I can cube map a b
Ah that explains it nicely thanks! I will do exactly that and see what the results are. I was looking at the _da textures. I did not know what the different naming conventions are for the texture files.
Has anyone here had the same problem with the Excelsior Model lighting? I have the newest version of the mod and still no lighting up of the ship. Is anyone going to address my post?
Hey guys. You seem to know alot of info about how the textures are mapped to the ships etc. My interest is in the light maps. Which files are these? I have Irfanview dds viewer and I can see all the textures in vanilla, plus the mod Sacrifice of Angles. I wanted to be able to change the glow of the ships from blue to purple or red or whatever. What I think are the light map textures though are all in shades of greenish / yellow. I don
Hello guys, I only have one issue which is odd and I can't seem to figure it out. The light map for the Excelsior model doesn't seem to be working. All my other Federation ships have their cool glows but the Excelsior is not lit at all. From opening the DDS files I can see that the file is there and it looks just like the ones used on other ships. I noticed also that the light maps are all in shades of greenish yellow. I wa
Hellgate London is a great example of an MMO that had a lifetime subscription model that a number of people paid. There are no online servers anymore for the game. Dunno bout STO will probably just hold out for The Old Republic. It already looks more polished.
Hi guys... Where do I get the mod? Anyone playing STO I'm holding out till The Old Republic but I dunno OCT release date might make me try out STO So where do I get SOA?
Can you give some tips on how to get a strong economy going? Do you try to put two trade ports per planet? Do you upgrade your planets or asteroids? I still get killed eventually by the computer on normal so I know i'm barely a novice at this game.
Um hey guys... I'm a noob and still cant seem to figure out which ship does the colonozation. I think its the Star Destroyer Capital. The other thing I can't figure out is how to capture mining facilities on neutral spots. What ship does that? Once they are captured by another faction can I capture them again? Also what exactly is oppresson supposed to do. Does it just make other ships hold their distance from my mighty SDs?
Wow is there nobody else out there with this issue. I really don't want to do a windows 7 reinstall!
This Version Of Deskscapes is Not Compatible With Windows 7 I made the mistake of trying to install demo version of deskscapes. I tried to uninstall it and it says its gone. However everytime I try to change anything wallpaper related I get this message. I need a version that will work with Win 7 so I can install then uninstall and hopefully fix the problem. I really don't feel like doing a reformat on my system. WTF can I do to fix this?
Wow guys thanks for the info. I like to try and put 2 tradeports on my terran planets and any others in general if they can handle the logistics. I haven't experimented much with refineries but now that I have this info I will mouse over and find the optimum setup. On another note I have beat normal AI quite a bit but as soon as I jack it up to hard oh man it kicks my butt.
I'm trying to figure out the value of trade ports and refineries. How many should I try to have per planet. What about refinieries. The manual says not one work about how they improve an economy. In fact the manual is very short on actual improvement statistics etc. For example if I have one refinery at an asteriod, how is that helping my economy? What if I set up another one? Should I have multiple trade ports etc. I'm trying to get bet
I found something interesting If you start out on a small map you have to designate your capital planet when you first start. Medium map doesn't have this problem. Seems to have a better starting economy too. Who would have known the map size effects your starting economy.....
Hmm so my tech research should have been working? I couldnt get beyond fleet and crew level 1 though I queued both to be researched and had nothing else going at the time. Maybe it was that particular game and I'll have to try another one / see if I can make some more capitals. I played another game last night using Federation and then Klingon. Can you mod the mining structures, ship building structures, planet strutures? What about changing the voiceovers can
Stardock, I love you guys since you started doing games. I'm currently working on modding Sins and I have all flavors of GalCivII. Just wanted to say thanks for continuing to improve on your already great games. You really are a model of what other gaming companies should be doing. Support, Modding, Updating. Can't wait to see what kind of game you guys come out with next. Downloading GCII 2.0
Thats awesome that you answered so throroughly! Thanks for that. I really wish I had better modeling skills. I can really appreaciate all the creases and bumbs on the Galaxy class I was playing last night. Too bad though for some reason I coudlnt use the tech to get more fleet and crew. I dunno the bar wouldnt fill but the research was going on. I wanted to make a bunch more Miranda classes. I too love the music
Man that would be awesome. I love Robotech and still have all the RPG books, the cartoons, heck some Yamato transformable VTs etc. If I was better at modelling with 3ds I could do this but I need more skills at it first. I've thought of trying to model the Zetraedi ships though.
Wow the Vong would be tight. Not alot of pictures though or art about their ships and such right? At least I don't know of any other than some book covers from NJO and ship descriptions in the novels themselves.
