Shortcut confusion Fences 6.46

Hi,

My Fences 6 (6.46) sometimes gets confused when I click a shortcut in another fence. It then starts up the previous shortcut I used from another fence.

Greetings

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I can't reproduce this one. Need to know few more information.

  1. Windows 11 full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe.
  2. Post a video showing us the issue.

Thank you,

Windows 11, 25H2

OS Build number: 26200.8457

It's impossible to make a video, it sometimes happens unexpectedly.

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1332477959/Fences+purging+and+re-installing]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Thank you,

The problem has returned, even after the purge and reinstalling a newer version..

Fences  gets confused with the shortcuts every now and then. Not constantly, but occasionally.

Perhaps something else is conflicting with Fences. Would like to suggest to try Clean boot. Refer here for steps on Clean Boot: https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1332445272/Fences+Clean+Boot. Do note that Clean Boot need to be done with care. Try it and report back.

Hi. Wondering if the shortcut it gets confused with is anywhere near the one that is launched. Ie in another tab, or direct above or below etc?

Hi r.koster, and thank you for posting.

Quoting r.koster, reply 3994476

I'm not going to try a clean boot. I want Fences to work on my current configuration.

End of r.koster's quote

I will keep an eye on this to see if the issue can be reproduced.  However, while this is entirely up to you, the Clean Boot suggestion is our best way to isolate if something unique to your PC (software conflicts/Windows changes, etc) could be a factor here.  At this time, we haven't been able to reproduce the issue, so knowing if it works with the Clean Boot would be highly useful for us to assist.

If you don't want to try the Clean Boot, another option, if possible, may be to try a fresh installation of Fences 6 in a Windows Sandbox:

Testing Fences in Sandbox - Documentation - Stardock Help Center

If you're willing and able to try either Clean Boot or Sandbox, please let us know if the issue continues.  A video upload of the problem would also always be helpful for us to see what could be potentially going wrong.
