I would like some way to auto rotate my orbital structures to track a particular phase-lane / neighboring gravity well.
I love that the map evolves, and I think the speed this happens is just right. But it creates a gameplay task where I must pause play to rotate my defenses. In big games with multiple opponents and multiple fronts this becomes more tedious than fun. I feel like I should be re-evaluating my defenses when the connections to my gravity wells actually change, not just because the exact same connections have moved 20 degrees.
How I think this could work - you have the option to auto-align orbital structures to a phase-lane. Rotation would engage every X interval unless a hostile (non scout) ships were present in the gravity well. The Auto alignment rule would disengage/stop when the phase-lanes connected to the gravity well changed (either new ones added or existing ones disappeared).
Finally, on the star map, the tactical bar at the bottom of the gravity well’s icon (the bar that indicates the number of structures present in the well) could provide some indication of whether an auto-rotate rule were in effect or not (like a shading or color-coding). This would tell me at a glance where I actually needed to make a new tactical decision.
Love this game. Thanks for the attention.
