Not yet, but the devs will probably add something of what you mentioned in the future. Meanwhile enjoy the sense of great distances and vastness of space )

Ops repeatedly asked about Hyperlanes that a player could build as were implemented late in GalCiv 3. Devs said NO !!! NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN. Enjoy the impossibility getting strategic reinforcements to an isolated far distant colony to fend off a surprise attack.

I would say never say never as I remember it being said in this forum during the GC1 or 2period that Carriers would never be in Gal Civ.
